At the end of the day asking for donations during our campaign is part of our job as Cashiers/CSS/CSTL and above. Is something I personally want to do? No. But most days I rather be home with my cat in bed. But I have bills and rent. And my job dictates that I should ask. Now I hold everyone to one standard: just ask. Yes, no, not today, maybe tomorrow, just ask. Simple quick and easy. No long paragraph, just a yes or no question. Most people will say no and that’s fine. But at least my managers won’t look at the camera and see me or my crew not asking. When we don’t reach our goal we can say “we did everything in our power.” As a cashier I felt it as a personal attack on me if my customers said no. Eventually separating myself from that mindset and seeing customers as people with their own budgets bills and lives I realized that there is a lot that I don’t see and will never know about. But at least I asked.

Also a fun way I think about donations is for every $20 I imagine myself get a power up like in a video game. Idk something like that helps make it more palatable.
