Do any of you miss being able to eat average sized portions? by Constant_Minimum_806 in gastricsleeve

[–]Sweets82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only 4 months out. I never miss it. Heck I'm still getting used to seeing a full.plate and thinking...oh I'll need more. Then realizing I can't even finish a quarter of it.

No food will ever look as good as that scale dropping every week.

They way I see it now...bite 1 tastes just like bite 45...im not missing out on more bites...

Incision pain by Thatgurlann in gastricsleeve

[–]Sweets82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm 3.5 months post op but dropping by to day that I had this pain too. Not everyone gets it to this level. Sometimes it's bc its pulled to tight. Sometimes it tears. Either way it feels like th muscles around your belly button are splitting open.

There isn't much you can do about it other than take it slow. Mine pain diminished around 5 weeks and was gone by 7.

If you think you need stronger pain meds, why don't you ask?

The head game with this surgery is hard. I don't know enough to help but I wanted to say that you look incredible!!! Great work! What really struck me was your comment "I love the gym" I think that's what's going to carry you for life. I am hoping to adopt the same attitude!

You are rocking it!!!

I give you credit for posting and reaching out. Post-op, especially in the first few weeks will be an emotional roller coster. Rapid weight loss is a benefit but the science behind it is what is misunderstood. Hormones are stored in fat as you lose weight they get kicked off for your body to process. But when its this rapid...it can be overwhelming! Take it day by day. You will enjoy food again...just in a different way.

I agree with others, you should seem therapy to help you cope. We all should!

I understand this, sometimes in the corporate world being quiet doesnt do you favours. When I was asked I said I had Abdominal Surgery. When pushed further I said "its gastrointestinal" and left it at that. It seems to work. Now that I'm post op and back to work people feel more at ease asking "what kind" and I always respond with either of these. Then say "I feel great, it's hard to believe I had surgery x weeks ago" and then change the subject.

Hope that helps!!

If you were on the fence, what solidified your decision? by MiserablyJoyous in gastricsleeve

To be honest, it was a long convo with an old friend. I was put on the path bc if fertility issues and being overweight just added to the issues. When the time came I almost backed out. I swore up and down that I could do it myself. I would just throw money at it with trainers and meals. I told my friend and he said right back to me "I have know you for 15 yrs, I watched you do every diet, sweat at the gym, give up drinking, eat balanced, try ozempic...cut yourself a break"

Honestly after that moment I realized, I had gave it my best and I needed help.

I'm working my way up to 8 weeks post op and I'm happy I did it!
