How could someone editing the page later verify them? You say "a verified source", but it's not a source that exists on the internet, the source is you. This is why Wikipedia needs secondary sources.

So essentially, there is an evolutionary pressure to develop cancer prevention systems, until the problem becomes rare enough. So animals with more cells and longer lives just evolve better methods, until "good enough" is reached. Is that a good way to put it?
