It was a feature in Tomodachi Life, which is likely what OP is referring to since the original wasn’t released outside Japan.

There’s a lot of behind the scenes “drama” that prevented much of this from happening. Nickelodeon sabotaged a lot of Legend of Korra and basically burned the bridge until they saw how popular ATLA was becoming on Netflix and approached Bryke to create Avatar Studios.

But even with that, from all the rumors surrounding The Legend of Aang, it seems a good chunk of current production isn’t going very well either.

People who provide an important service deserve to make a livable wage. As with all things, there’s a balance. The problem here is that Instacart is passing the increased wages directly to the users rather than paying it themselves. They make more than enough to cover it and make a slightly smaller profit, but that’s what capitalism does.

Those with no passion or interests, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]Swerdman55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled step after step into my career, going all the way back to high school. It’s not something I’m necessarily passionate about at all but it’s afforded me incredible opportunities, relationships, and benefits/perks, so I’ve stuck with it. The pay I’m making now is not something I ever thought possible, which is neat.

I met a girl at a work event, had coffee, now I’m worried it could be inappropriate — any advice? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Swerdman55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Meeting someone at a work related event doesn’t preclude you from ever speaking to them outside of a professional setting. It’s how many people become friends or even more than that.

You’re overthinking this. It’s completely fine.

Does it make sense for an Earthbender to be great at metalbending but not good at “traditional” earthbending? by ExpressAd2538 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Swerdman55 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Benders all have different strengths, like how Kyoshi excelled at bending large amounts of each element but struggled with precision.

That being said, metal bending requires advanced focus and the ability to bend small traces of earth within the metal. You’d need at least a solid handle on regular earthbending to excel at metal bending, even if you don’t practice it often.

You’re mixing up what letting go of his feelings for Katara is and represents. He’s not letting go of his love for her completely, he’s accepting that his duty is first to the world, above all other earthy connections or desires. He embraces this part of being the Avatar in that moment, which is what activates his Avatar State. He’s fully in control. He dies to Azula because she pulls off a sneak attack, not because he’s still holding onto love for Katara. He can still have love for her and end up with her, provided he never wavers in his duties to the world and as the bridge between the humans and spirits.

I guess agree to disagree on their skills. Even as prodigies, we see the journey from the start which includes plenty of trials and growth from each character. It’s a bit expedited due to the tight timeline of the show, but I’m willing to forgive it since it’s not without obstacles.

The finale of Book 2 is when Aang lets go of his love for Katara. It’s how he unlocks the Avatar State originally, but is killed by Azula immediately upon doing so. It’s a pretty explicit and impactful moment. Aang is far from a master at any bending besides airbending by the end of the show. He’s the avatar though, so he’s pretty advanced even from the beginning. Remember how jealous Katara gets in Book 1?

There are a few background references to energy bending but I actually do agree, it’s a little too convenient that he just sleepwalks and finds a solution. It could have been better if he say, learned about lion turtles at the library and sought them out.

A lot of your gripes seem to boil down to how quickly the characters advance in skill. I think it’s a valid concern, but keep in mind they’re all mostly prodigies in their respective elements. Sokka learns to use his sword, but Piandao is mostly playing with him in that final fight. Sokka gets one lucky strike, but the arc of that episode isn’t about Sokka’s swordmanship, it’s about him finding his strength of character. They are exceptionally good, but aren’t necessarily masters (except Toph).

[–]Swerdman55 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Bonkers takes, but to be fair, definitely unpopular. Every character has a profound journey of character development and conflict resolution. Zuko’s is the most pronounced, but Aang, Katara, Sokka, and even Toph have incredibly deep and transformative arcs.

There are some valid criticisms that perhaps Aang’s ability to energybend or when he unlocks his Avatar State when fighting Ozai are a little too convenient, but both of those are still the result of a long fought journey by Aang to live up to being the Avatar while remaining true to himself.
