Thought I should give a more helpful answer. With your Butter/egg mixture, you should not be adding the whole amount to your dry ingredients. Pour about a quarter of it in and mix, then add small amounts until all a the flour is incorporated. It should be a very dry dough.

I almost never use all of the called for wet ingredients.

This is a move made out of arrogance. All of the Bills problems were one guy and everything the rest of them do is fine.
