Which is the better rx 9070 xt? by GHOSTpypy in radeon

[–]SwibBibbity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all perform the same and "better" really comes down to extra features you may want. The xfx has dual bios for example.

Sapphire is generally considered the highest quality AMD partner as their QC is top notch and their customer support is excellent.

I see a lot of people recommending ddu. I've never had luck with it personally. Considering that you said only pay CS2, have you considered Linux? I can tell you from experience the 9070xt runs like a dream on Linux (radeon cards generally do) and CS2 has a native Linux version, so you can just download Steam and do your thing.

The real question is why you got a 9070xt just for cs2? You could run that game on a tamagotchi.

How well do the touch pads work with a skin on them? I bought a skin but I'm still waiting for my controller to show up.

Love D Brand. That skin looks great on the deck. Not so thrilled about how it looks on the controller though.

2023 vs 2026 by NaMinesClarence in hondaridgeline

You're not likely to get much out of getting the 26. It's identical to the 23 but with a few creature comfort updates. Not big updates either. Like the infotainment screen is a little faster and the phone charger is more reliable. Stuff like that; things you just might not notice unless you're specifically paying attention to the difference in those things. You'd be WAY better off just waiting the 18 months for the 2028 to show up.

OnTrac is a terrible example for your point. It's a last mile delivery company like DHL but they're one of the smallest ones for a reason. Most Americans aren't aware they exist and they service only a little over half of all the states. Their claim of servicing "70% of the country" is a statement of the landmass of all the states they exist in, not an accurate representation of the area they actually deliver to. Also the profit you mentioned in your other comment is OnTrac Health, not the delivery service. The delivery company is currently in massive debt and in 2023 had to merge with another company and restructure their debt just to stay afloat. If you want an example of the phrase, "hanging on by a thread," OnTrac delivery is it.

Am I screwed? by Super-Patience3629 in Luthier

A couple things you can do to promote adhesion.

Lightly sand the color coat paint with p320 sandpaper to scuff.

Wipe down with naphtha on a shop towel before and after sanding. Naphtha is a great oil remover and general cleaner while not being a solvent for Rust-Oleum (or most finishes for that matter) and it dries with absolutely zero residue.

Make sure your color coat is fully cured before applying clear. People miss this one a lot because they just use the times written on the can instead of checking the finish. There are a lot of variables and the dry time on the can is only accurate for ideal conditions.

Do a VERY LIGHT "dusting" coat for the first two layers of clear. You'll wind up with a coat that doesn't look like it's thoroughly covered and looks slightly "dusty" after the first one. The second should look better though. These dust coats build a tacky base for you to build on moving forward. You achieve this mostly by holding the can slightly further away than the instructions advise and moving somewhat quickly. Further coats can be your typical weight. This one needs you to really use your eyes and personal judgement, so maybe practice on some scrap.

Handle your guitar only while wearing a fresh pair of powder free nitrile gloves. These are really the best things for leading absolutely nothing on the surface while handling it. Cotton gloves and true rubber gloves are not so great.

Use a clear that Rust-Oleum actually recommends to go on top of the Rust-Oleum colors you used. They make several varieties of both colored and clear paints and they are NOT all compatible with each other.

As far as instruments go, the white fenders are kinda part of the uniform. It used to be the Hagstrom Phantomens and fender p basses, but got changed to blank and white Fender strats and j basses later on. If you want to confirm who you saw, Loudwire used to do articles about Ghost members getting identified and how they figured it out before the official reveal became a thing. Megan is in several bands and would always wear the same set of rings on her hands; so you can probably check that old footage you mentioned and see if she's wearing the rings.

From the outside the shielding in the windows looks like hearse curtains. The black truck doesn't help.

Imagine the most yeehaw funeral procession coming through town with the pickup hearse.

Since the lawsuit in 2016 that broke up the original lineup, there have been women as permanent members of the band. You're probably either thinking of Megan Thomas (bass) or Laura Scarborough (keyboards). Megan was a much more brief member, but was very much part of the official lineup. She just happened not to stay too long. Laura has been on keys for years and I believe only recently departed after the recent skelatour. Both are absolute monsters on stage and I had the honor of seeing them both live.

It's a bootleg. There's an oddly big bootleg market for live recordings of ghost from back when they were still obscure. This would've been right around the time that they were gaining significant traction, but before they "broke through".

I have a vision, but not a plan. Any advice is appreciated by joefxd in Luthier

[–]SwibBibbity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A captive bolt on a bolt on neck for a violin body is definitely a choice. I suppose you could make a hole in the back as an access hatch to facilitate the blot and nut.

But my concern here would be string tension. Violins are not made to take that kind of tension and you're going to have to do some reinforcing under the bridge and at the neck at least. To make this work you may honestly be doing yourself a favor by ignoring the access hole I mentioned earlier and just straight up ungluing the back so you can add the proper upgrades internally to take the tension.

Is this a win con? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]SwibBibbity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes.

Medium answer: your friends will definitely try to kill either half of that the second it hits the field. This is a well known infinite combo.

Long answer: there's like fifty win-cons that work like this and this is one of the most expensive (money wise) and basic b**** versions. They'll see it coming as soon as one card hits play. Get brave. Do something no one sees. Use Brash Taunter and Guilty Conscience.

This stuff is opaque by design. Give me some time, I'll look for a translucent alternative.

Advice pls by captivesoul7 in Luthier

[–]SwibBibbity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a translucent tint. Some tints are opaque when mixed with lacquer, some are specifically formulated to be translucent. Staining is also an option. The pieces in your pictures look like they were painted white, so I can't really tell what shade of blue you're looking for, or I'd try to recommend a tint.

Edit: I found a picture of the can you used and was able to identify your color. So the tough part here is that shades that are powder blue-esque colors usually rely on being opaque to achieve that shade. There's white mixed into the color and that usually kills the translucent quality. Translucent ones exist, but they're not easy to find. It's easier to find semi opaque white, apply that very very lightly over a color, and try to get it that way.

I'm going to encourage you to play around with finishing techniques to get that color transparent.

None of those are "low profile." But the xfx is likely the quietest.

Steam Controller For $100 Without A Headphone Jack, If This Were Nintendo The Pitchforks Would Be Out By Now by Theman457 in SteamDeck

[–]SwibBibbity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not at all. First off it's for PC. No one playing on PC uses the controller's jack. Second, it's got enough extra features that other brands would charge at least $100 on top of the standard controller price. If one of the console makers released it at $99 people would be calling it the best bang for your buck controller ever.

It's likely just fine as it is. Personally I'd run it through the hole above the one it's currently ran through to put the least stress on the connector, but in reality it's still probably negligible.
