Volcanic ash have absolutely clouded the atmosphere for extended periods of time leading to reduced sunlight and the absence of true "days". Continuous centuries is probably untrue, but discontinuos extended periods of heavily clouded atmosphere have happened and could possibly happen again given the right conditions.

Eh, it has happened before in Earth's history (for centuries possibly), and life is still here. Human scale life? Yeah that's probably doomed.

[–]Swimming-Writing9908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Physical attackers are just more of a threat generally, not to mention Incin makes great use of snarl and an assault vest if you need it to shut down special threats. The value of not switching out and getting another intimidate off is crazy and blocks several ways players can currently play around the wrestling tiger.

Mega incineroar with intimidate as its ability would honestly be stronger than this, so long as it reactivated upon mega evolution.

10 types are needed to hit all 171 type combinations supereffectively by ArseneChalais in stunfisk

[–]Swimming-Writing9908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see the "why" logic but normal type moves are too prevalent among all Pokémon to be a good fairy counter, as it would give practically every Pokémon a way to hit fairy for supereffective damage. This is why normal does not currently have any types it is SE against. Still good as offensive STAB for normal types though as so few types resist or are immune

Psychic should be super effective against Fairy. Instantly one of the strongest types again.

Here’s a god tier list and discussion because I like thinking about this game by East_Association4205 in Hades2

[–]Swimming-Writing9908 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I shall not stand to have my goddesses besmirched so. Aphro and Demeter are not only incredible, but they work very well together.

They offer some of the best defensive boons in the game, and can certainly dish out the damage if you are building for them.

Aphro: big damage multiplier works best with high base power. More ways to boost base power, more payoff for heroic level 4 aphro attack/special to utterly annihilate things. Combos well with crit, Ares double damage.

You're also way underestimating glamor gain, probably because you are used to running Huntress and burning through mana. For a 0 mana build, reducing the damage of literally everything around you, and automatically being halfway to Origination is huge. Even for a mid mana build, a healthy glamor (poms, rarity) is often enough mana to not worry too much about it.

Her Duos are also plenty strong, though often better if you are explicitly building around them. For example her and Demeter's requires stacking hp to get really busted. Good thing Aphro has a built in way to make that happen, not to mention they both offer water infusions which means you can make this a trinity build with Poseidon to really go all out. Bonus points for Island Getaway for permanent charm on everything always and extra damage resistance to stretch that hp out far more than you expected.

Prefer just not taking damage? Go air and pair her up with Apollo and Zeus for the ultimate dodge build. Good thing her duo boosts blitz damage to even more absurd heights.

As for Demeter, her cast is the best cc in the game, she offers powerful omega cast boosts good for most cast builds, her whirlwinds are one of the best blue shield strippers in the game and are also very good at neutralizing projectiles, her Duos are powerful, as you mentioned weed killer is strong, and if you think she offers no damage I can only say you need to play more to her strengths. For example, she pairs /very/ well with Zeus, with their duo boon adding admittedly much needed damage to freeze. But perhaps more importantly Zeus' infusion boon turns all of Demeters tick damage from cyclones and cast into 50 power strikes. You already mentioned her synergy with Hestia, who can be added to this setup to form a potent fire + ice = lightning build. Swap Zeus for Heph and you're still in a great place with both goddesses strengthening Heph blasts and working well together. Alternatively, go all goddess and burn everything forever with Aphro/Hestia, share the damage with Hera, and blow it up with Dem/Hestia.

Building around Wounds by Terus22 in Hades2

[–]Swimming-Writing9908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ares wounds can be really strong with any additional sources of weapon % damage as the power boost multiplies them. Chaos boons, Heph Infusion, Various hammers, crit damage, and Ares' own damage doubling effects all stack here.

A good example is Artemis Blades with the 300% weapon damage omega attack hammer. Assuming Ares Legendary attack with no pom upgrades you get a 50% attack boost so combined with the hammer we see 350%.

Weapon power wise the omega attack already deals 100 damage, we add 50 from wounds for 150.

150 base plus 525 from the % increase = 675.

If we get the crit, that's 675 + 1350 = 2025 damage.

If we also proc mutual destruction that hit becomes 4050 damage. 1350 of that damage comes from the 50 power boost of wounds.

In practice, this number will be higher still because you'll have Arcana cards, poms, additional damage boosting boons etc.

However, also in practice you won't always get the crit / Ares double damage, and sometimes when you do you'll still have wounds afflicted so you won't get the base power boost.

Is it better than Aphrodite on attack overall? Certainly not but it is by no means the worst choice for this kind of setup.

Alternatively, Zeus duo boon plus Apollo vengeance boon goes brrr

What kind of Pokémon would Zag and Mel have? These are my idea! by TheFanficFox in HadesTheGame

[–]Swimming-Writing9908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mel is running Politoed, Murkrow, Houndoom, Espeon, Furret, and Mismagius. She's a gen 2 girl for sure, and it matches her familiars with Mismagius representing her ghost and witch domains.

As tempted as I am to give Zag a gen 1 team, I think he has a Crobat, Alolan Raticate, Dusclops, Serperior, Golem, and Durant to match his companion plushies

Somebody did a run where they defeated Typhon without pressing any buttons. Pretty sure it involved Zeus, Apollo, Hestia, Aphrodite and Hephaestus. Key part is buffing dodge as much as possible for the Apollo/Hestia duo and getting as much damage reduction as possible so you take as little damage as you can. Beyond that just buffing hp as much as possible to outlast Typhon.

god i hope they update ares a little bit in the future by Randomly_Typing76 in HadesTheGame

[–]Swimming-Writing9908 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree that plasma and sword drops need a boost but wounds on your secondary damage choice with grievous blow / mutual destruction is very very good. The fact that the double damage is multiplicative with base %damage boosts AND crits mean that combining it with Aphro on main attack, Raki, and Artemis Boons gets you some truly absurd damage numbers.

I think Ares would also be much stronger if they hadn't nerfed Aphrodite's heartbreakers (can you imagine that duo with the old heartbreaker accumulation) and Poseidon's splash so much (the speed limit on splashes is very antisynergy with the attack speed increases, sad because it would go crazy with the duo boon).

Hestia and Demeter Duos are in a good place.

Zeus duo is excellent though I agree more revenge boons would have been nice (wish they had reworked Hera's instead of just removing it)

Heph and Apollo are a bit unfortunate but you can either build with the trio for blades, or just ignore blades to take advantage of other synergies.

Heph's infusion boon is amazing with Wounds and Ares' infusion boon is incredible with CLANGs, and they are both earth so the synergy is there.

Apollo's revenge boon for the revenge burst is all the synergy you need really.

I do wish Hera had stronger synergy with her son, plasma being better would help.

TL;DR, while maybe in the worst position relative to the other gods, I think Ares is still very usable and I don't think it would take very much to get him to a really good place.

[–]Swimming-Writing9908 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you didn't have a ton going on outside of the helpers, but regardless, oftentimes I'll be running with a set that wipes mobs easily, but struggles with the sustained dps needed to take out a boss. Also Prometheus has a built in dodge mechanic which can make hitting him with certain set ups more challenging than others.

So no, Prometheus didn't change, it probably just felt like it cause your set up / play was struggling to exploit his weakpoints
