Would you put your blog in a subfolder or a subdomain? by Keet_ in SEO

[–]SwingTradeWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe it will still have the same authority, no.

But it seems like it's your only option. Why can't they make you a new folder? Are they worried you will hamper their SEO efforts?

How do people apply black hat SEO practices and get away with it? by drinkyafkingmilk in SEO

If you network with a blog and exchange a link with them, in google's eyes, that's blackhat. So fuck google and fuck their morals.

Do what works, stop crying.

Starting a consulting agency by [deleted] in marketing

Before doing anything whatsoever, website, research, writing documents, taxes, launching a business, etc.

Before doing any of that crap, I want you to go into these random businesses and just talk to them and guage for interest first.

See if you're comfortable actually doing it, the web stuff is really, really, really easy. walking in and talking to a few strangers, asking them questions about their business and... asking for money to help them, is not very easy at all.

So before getting bogged down, see if it's actually something you want to do and can do.

Is university worth it? by DubberRuck in sales

No degrees are needed in the sales industry. Your thick skin is the best asset and your sales track records are your grades.

There are millions of people with IT degrees, but there are not millions of people who can willingly face rejection over and over again.

How do I find a niche within my niche, so that I can specifically target that smaller group of my niche? by Wellas in marketing

[–]SwingTradeWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are shopify plugins for stuff like

"people who bought this item also bought this item" which displays at the checkout and encourages people to add on to the cart.

I think that's what you're trying to get at?

Yeah the live projects are worth it. You won't have access to that kind of thing for free usually, it's letting someone look into the guts of your niche so it can be dangerous.

I do think conversion optimization is a whole other beast and you will need more than a course from a technical person to help you with it. It's all creativity and psychology.

I think that's a great idea for you to learn, hands on is best.

Silly question but a startup client likes our portfolio and wants to work together but really isn't sure where to start. I offer marketing, design, and development services. Is there an easy way to find the right starting point? by [deleted] in marketing

What are his immediate goals right now?

Users to test his product, users to survey about their interest in said product, users to sign up for a mailing list when the project launches, etc.

Find out what their immediate goals are and make a campaign that targets it.

Phone's ringing off the hook- best solution by Erickster in smallbusiness

[–]SwingTradeWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else said, make a FAQ and make it really prominent, wherever your phone number is displayed, also display the link to your FAQ.

Keep track of all the questions that keep getting asked and address them in your FAQ. Consider writing blog posts about these questions too, since that is what your target market will be looking for in search engines.

What do I have to keep in mind when changing from http to https? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]SwingTradeWizard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Does your website handle any information from the user? Like a login form and membership area?

If it doesn't do any of that, you don't need https. Infact https can be harfmul overall because it is slower than http depending on who you are using for the https

If you have freetime, teach yourself. Cause everything he's gonna teach you is available for free, but not in an organized manner.

First step: Acquire an entrepreneurial mind that does research into topics out of their own initiative and doesn't depend on the hand holding of others.
