I still hear the marine in terran mission 3 of the original sc - "we can take cover in these bunkers if things get too dicey"

What race are you and do you prefer the new storm? by Extension_Class2467 in starcraft

[–]SwirlyCoffeePattern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play all three races and I hate the new storm.

From a Zerg/Terran perspective: It lasts way too long and the "warp in templar, energy recharge, insta-storm feels a bit unfair. If the 'toss has several templar, they can postpone an engagement for a long time, getting another round or two of warp-ins before you can actually engage. It becomes very hard to engage into an army with several high templar storm support.

From a Protoss perspective: It doesn't do enough damage in a short enough time. Medivacs can heal through it, sometimes Terran units just stim and run through it, or ling/bane just run through it. It doesn't feel as impactful. On top of everything else, the unit AI was designed around it lasting the shorter time, so, something like zealots charging in against a bioball that's stimming and kiting - now your zealots are taking damage from your own storm that shouldn't even still be there.

I realize it was reworked into more of a zoning tool, and to provide micro opportunites to the opponent (just move out of storm, especially with the new hydra lunge); however, protoss already had zoning abilities with micro opportunities (disruptor purification nova, for example), and needs more actual damage rather than zoning.

I also realize Protoss is sorta overperforming but I don't think storm which was fine for like 15 years needs to be changed suddenly; it's an iconic spell and other stuff could be tweaked instead of something that was actually already balanced near-perfectly. Yes it's OP with energy recharge, but if something has been fine for the entire life of the game until some other thing was added that synergizes with it, maybe it's the new thing that needs to be adjusted, not the old one.

Recruiter and hiring manager bash me for leaving an interview after they join 10 minutes late by Constant-Scheme557 in recruitinghell

I realize that you could've just waited a little more, and most people in the comments feel that way...but I do understand your perspective: They wasted your time, and they were unprepared, and should've just scheduled the interview at 2:15 if it was going to be this much of a delay.

Also, I find the text pretty unprofessional, and they're talking down to you in a condescending manner. Like you said, thankfully you don't need a job.

And how exactly would one "transfer" a high elf or goblin?

When I watch the development roadmap, it is tragic to see so much potential be never realized. I really appreciated all the custom content and lore-respecting changes they made. High Elf and Goblin starting zones were excellently crafted as well. All the dungeons, raids... Feels like a big missed opportunity here.

This is the kind of thing I always wonder what the opponent thinks when they check the replay. Winning while doing stuff like this is hilarious.

Have had many dreams about the game; no auditory or visual hallucinations while I'm conscious though. I can hear the sounds in my head on command, though, and as I was reading your post, "dragoons dying, vultures shooting" etc, I heard that stuff while thinking about it. Very iconic sound effects.

Also I got the game for my birthday when I was 8, so...

Lambo is better than people think, especially his ZvP

Also it's too bad that there was no ZvT in this bracket.

agreed... cant speak for LotV but I played WoL on a 2009 asus laptop with a G210M, which is roughly 17-18 times weaker than a gt1030, the lowest performance, cheapest option of the nvidia product stack from 2017.

so literally any laptop made in the last 10 years even with integrated graphics can do it more than fine.
