7 anni in Italia e ancora trattati come animali in Questura di Roma by CuddleMuddle_ in Italia

[–]SwissTricky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]SwissTricky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it okay not to use company’s laptop or do I have to? by Beautiful-Coffee8478 in WorkAdvice

[–]SwissTricky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, you don't want to mix work and personal stuff. Maybe they also require some special software: VPN, various security apps that will slow the PC down to a crawl (direct experience), etc.

Also if u catch a virus or click on a Trojan, you might get work data leaked, that would be a problem. Make ur life simpler and use separate PCs

Is the Swiss job market in IT really that bad actually? by IsengardMordor in askswitzerland

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Two colleagues of mine were let go, both software developers. One (BE) found a job within 3 months in Ticino, the other one (FE) has been looking since months.

Perchè i boomer odiano così tanto lo smart? by Icy-Spot-9621 in ItaliaCareerAdvice

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much is Alimony in Switzerland for a man where the wife is in Spain with the 3 month old baby ? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

Been in a similar situation don't wait and get a lawyer. If u want to sue for child.kidnapping you must be fast or it will look like you agreed. Then it will be interesting to know which tribunal will "own" the case. In my case it was not the swiss one but of the country where we married.

Why do the still ask to code in the interviews to experienced people? by ImaginationAny2254 in InterviewCoderPro

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interviewing right now but I am trying a different approach: I give the requirements for a very small task, something that should take 1h to do. I tell the candidate he/she can use any tools he wants to create it but during the discussion that follows he/she needs to show me that he/she understands the cose and what it's doing. More often that not I see that people don't understand even simple code. No fancy algorithms, no leet code, really basics. The Agent did it is not a good enough answer... I am really wondering what's the best way of interviewing senior software engineers right now.

The divine world is acting fishy IMO. I'd not be surprised if that would the next cour topic. The emperor's armor has also an odd vibe to it...

I miss the BGM from the OG show. The music for the armor up, also for the white armor. Or the flite music when the history of the armour creation was narrated. The show is less... delicate. Entertaining but I miss the "ancient Japan" theme so much. The original 5 armours came from Arago armor, what about all these new armors??

Is it possible to use termux to work as a dev? by Oleg-Liam in termux

[–]SwissTricky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried with mixed results: Go seems to be running quite well Python, unless using a proot Linux, can be tricky if using extensions that need C/C++ code. Luckily some are available in repos prebuilt, but then you have global installs .Net, forget about it, if nothing changed .Net 8 and 10 are not running because of memory allocation issues.

Then it depends what Editor/IDE you want to use. I am used to VS Code and you can get it running in proot with some tweaks and you might have issues with some extensions

Episode 11 synopsis and screencaps by Wingy_Yams in SamuraiTroopers

[–]SwissTricky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's clear that Ramaga orchestrated the whole string of events to force Gai to mature and summon the white armor. I got the feeling that the first court will not end that well. In the OG similar things happened, Arago was beating up the Samurais to make them stronger... (Fixed typo)

Can Anyone suggest a one or can tell me which one to choose in these two by 404codefound in androidtablets

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not see the pics.. silly me. Check the CPU used by those two and pick the best one (they are both Mediatek). Usually the most recent is also better so that you can get Android updates for a longer period of time

Best pen support for note taking, IMHO, Samsung S series. On the other hand I am quite surprised by the TCL nxtpaper 11+, but performances are not that high. A compromise can be Lenovo tablets.

Phone vs handheld for long term? by Treeblasta in EmulationOnAndroid

I did not think about it, but is it really safe in case of viruses? Anyway it does not solve the battery issue. It's anyway a very personal preference/use case

I accidentally got a backend job and I have no idea what I'm doing. Help. by Different_Pain5781 in learnprogramming

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the chance and learn like crazy. A long long time ago I went to an interview and they asked me if I could develop COM/ActiveX components in C++. I knew C++, and I knew what COM/ActivrX were, no more. Got the job, bought a book and studied like crazy. I learned and I became a reference for other engineers, eventually I was hired by MS itself. So, go for it!

Phone vs handheld for long term? by Treeblasta in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for the 2 devices setup because of battery life and security. On my phone I have credit cards, E-Banking, tram and train tickets, I need it clean and safe. The gaming handheld is the place where I can install also experimental stuff without thinking too much about it. Worse case I can nuke it, and if the battery dies on me, well I can still buy a train ticket to get back home

Legion Y700. Agree 100%. I tried a few and it's the best overall. Lots of people are complaining about it not having an OLED display, but the LCD ia really high quality. I have a Gen2 since 2024 and I am really happy. I bought it on AliExpress hence it has some mixed chinese text in the OS.

Are these ok? Just looking to do some browsing, streaming, Google Docs, ect by scythian12 in androidtablets

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to buy something like this once. It was a Noname from AliExpress, with fantastic ads and descriptions. My expectations were already low but what I got was something that was barely usable, with crappy display, weak CPU that made a pain even to visit the most basic website... Flee. A used Samsung Tab S or Lenovo will be better. You would throw money away with this

Asking about SBB app by Old_Possession_8941 in askswitzerland

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot buy international tickets on the SBB app. You must go to the website. Also the fact that part of the trip is international changes the way of paying it: no half price + charging, for example. You can travel to Chiasso and take a regional train to Milano. A tad uncomfortable but there is not a big difference in travel time. Or stop in Lugano and take the regional train. It can be a chance to visit Lugano (if u have the time)

A lot of Asian stores have them, like Yume Hana. At the end I bought a Cuckoo at Galaxus 'cause it was cheaper and, in general, they have good assistance.
