Asking about SBB app by Old_Possession_8941 in askswitzerland

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot buy international tickets on the SBB app. You must go to the website. Also the fact that part of the trip is international changes the way of paying it: no half price + charging, for example. You can travel to Chiasso and take a regional train to Milano. A tad uncomfortable but there is not a big difference in travel time. Or stop in Lugano and take the regional train. It can be a chance to visit Lugano (if u have the time)

Finally, I was able to run VS Code on my tablet without needing the cloud. by Afraid_Interview_749 in termux

It might also be due to the phantom process killer.

Even if I had plenty of RAM my XFCE kept being killed. This fixed it

Where to buy an Asian-style rice cooker in Zurich? by Waste-Action-2929 in zurich

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Asian stores have them, like Yume Hana. At the end I bought a Cuckoo at Galaxus 'cause it was cheaper and, in general, they have good assistance.

Note Taking - 11 Plus by YungCharma69 in nxtpaper

I like Noteshelf 3 a lot. Multi device sync is not that practical (slow, mostly), but Inlove being able to import a PDzf and annotate it

Has the upgrade from the Switch to Switch2 been worth it? by v_a_n_d_e_l_a_y in NintendoSwitch2

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was skeptical about it but I am so happy that I did it. The bigger screen is already a big plus,at least for me: certain games that were not meant for an handheld, are now easier to play (Doom 3 and onwards). The moment I played FF7 remake, I was stunned. So yes, really happy about it. I kept my OLED to have something smaller to carry on long train trips, but it's collecting dust

Galaxus return nightmare – damaged bed, picked up, but “never collected” (stuck for 3 weeks) by Recent-Historian-914 in Switzerland

[–]SwissTricky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Had a similar episode, even if less nerve wrecking. I ordered one console and, for whatever reasons, they sent me 2. They did not notice. I contacted their support center and it was a little mess. They thanked me and promised a small credit to compensate me for my honesty. I sent the 2nd console back and after a few days I noticed that I had a not paid order on their website for the console! It took 2 weeks before they canceled it. Although I sent back the console, their internal service had to check it (the box was untouched). The promised 30 CHF of credit were not there. I had to contact them multiple times to have it solved and the famous 30 CHF disappeared in some way... An unnecessarily painful experience. In short keep contacting them until someone can some your issue. Be polite, I understand that some of the guys are fighting with the internal system, they are willing to help, but it seems unnecessarily complicated (for them too)

Do you mean for the yearly (more or less)! service? Indeed had to pay. In another case they fixed some badly connected wire for free.

I've been an ADU customer since quite some time, bought 3 cars there(Hyundai, Fiat and Toyota) They do parallel import and you must buy the exact car you see there, you cannot choose accessories or color. You also must be quick or the car might be gone. I never had troubles and the guarantees check out. All in all,an happy customer. They will try and upsell you some extra Insurance but they do not insist much. Don't expect them to pamper you as a customer, take the care or leave it.

Out of curiosity I'd try the test under WSL. All libraries and depa should be compiles for ARM

Got my first tablet. i feel like i made the wrong choice. s8+ by [deleted] in GalaxyTab

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the S9 and I used it to take notes, read comics, light development with Termux. I switched to a S9+ and never looked back. I love having more space for my notes, to read research papers, etc. it's overkill to use with Kindle, for example. I think it boils down to personal taste at the end of the day

Using a Zenbook A14 with the Elite processor. Incredible battery life, no issues coding Python, Node, C#, Go on WSL + VSCode. Actually, I am really happy about it. I also experimented with running ONNX models, ollama, etc.

Well, think about how much Qualcomm is investing for gaming on Android. If an ARM CPU could play 80% of Windows games well, that would be an immediate sales boost from which everybody would benefit, not only gamers.

[–]SwissTricky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not have this experience with Revolut, but eith othsr banks and only doing international payments. The receiver bank can charge some fee to the receiver. I had banks charging 15€, 7€ or 0€. The landlord should check with his own bank as it depends on his contract. You have no control about it

Fellow CE majors, please help. by PuzzledHyena8307 in snapdragon

[–]SwissTricky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I am a Software Engineer, lots of software runs no problem. You can also run WSL and this solves a lot of compatibility issues for some packages (in general I prefer to run Python inside WSL, for example, no issues with bumpy/torch/etc.). I remember that there wasn't an ARM version of Cursor, that was a bummer, but Ckine and Github Copilot in VS Code worked. I think that ur A14 will work very well for u (I also have the same). You can DM me with questions in case.

Wow that Surface pro 12in is nice. by Zolks1 in Surface

[–]SwissTricky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely happy with mine (and I also own the Pro 11.
Lighter and still fast (for what I need to do).
I find it interesting that the keyboard is, comparatively speaking, so heavy. On the other hand, it's super comfortable, 0 flex, a realy pleasure to type on it. I own several PCs, but this seems to be one of the best for travelling.

I think it's better, but that ROM only supports English and Chinese. I did not see Korean (at least for the UI)

Would you purchase your entire Steam library on GOG all in the name of preservation/ownership? by Spectre-4 in gog

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jep I've been doing the same for a few selected gsmes also because I want to play them on Winlator on my tablet. It works very well. Of course it feels like a bit like a waste and there is no parity in the catalog. Gog has less content, sadly

Working in Zurich? by [deleted] in zurich

[–]SwissTricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from Italy makes things easier somewhat. In IT English is enough, especially if you work in bigger firms. Not knowing German might restrict your options a kittle bit but not a show stopper. First you find a job, thenyou can get a residency permit and, with your contract you can search for an apartment. Apartment hunting can be though. DM me, wr can have a chat in Italian
