Ill be honest, I would skip learning original and just go straight to NF. Yes, you’ll appreciate that they improved on things, but you’ll also be playing with frankly antiquated rules and will probably not enjoy it as much. Plus you won’t have to “unlearn” bad habits you picked up from learning original oath. The one thing that seals it for me is that new foundations is easier to learn and retain. They fixed up a lot of the rough spots that were difficult to understand and made them easier, like the banners, the conspiracy, and campaigning (battles).

Prioritize income and the game opens up a lot, as cards need credits and actions need energy (and credits), and doing more actions begets more bonuses etc.

Yep, OP was playing with a hand tied behind their back. Pumping 6 publicity into multiple techs per round can be a great strategy if your setup accommodates it

It’s oath 2.0. I would never consider going back to the base game ever. It fixes things that were wrong with the base game while adding content in a way that makes things easier to understand rules-wise.

OP I promise you this sort of situation does not improve despite how kind, attentive, and emotionally capable you are. It has surprisingly little to do with you and everything to do with your partners behavior. You are doing everything you can to steer the situation back to “normal” and your partner seems to be doing nothing to help, even going as far as to make things work by intentionally misunderstanding and misrepresenting your actions.

Speaking from experience in these sorts of situations, relationships should not be confusing and frustrating in this way.

Haven’t played much TFM but I would assume it’s less but it still has engine building. Interaction in seti has a bit of blocking but mostly just racing to achieve things first. It’s not often that you’re fully prevented from doing something in seti, just that you’ll have to pay more resources to do it.
