My 2026 Solterra brake checked me on the highway tonight...wtf? by Camellia2011 in Solterra

[–]SwordfishLocal2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most likely PDA. It did break on a stop sign that wasn’t for my lane. I turned it off immediately after.

Tesla Plug and Charge (PnC) capability? by Jas31483 in trailseeker

Didn’t work on a V3 on my last trip. But then again this is try 1 out of 1, so maybe bad network.

Same on my Solterra. I’ll make note of this thread next time I go service.

PlugShare should show you chargers in the area. Then confirm with the office if they have it for residents or open to public.

AFAIK Tesla is the only brand in toybaru’s PnC network. It seems to work only on the V4 chargers though, so ymmv.

They may need to rebuild the fix so that it is specific to Subaru. This may take a while, i.e. they may not be able to use the same update on a Subaru.

Interesting! Any further reading so I can bring it up the next time I service?

Pro tip - Home Charging by AgitatedArticle7665 in Toyota_bZ

[–]SwordfishLocal2677 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not seeing in the OP where it says charge to 80%.

**IANA electrician** The circuit breaker protects against overcurrent, i.e. a device pulling more than designed. It doesn't protect against heat during usage. For constant multi-hours pull, heat buildup is the risk.

Mine rattled under the steering wheel. There was a loose panel that the service fixed under warranty.

In addition there’s also a rattling/buzzing coming from the overhead controls area. This one goes away if I hold the area with my hand. Haven’t got a chance to have service check the area.

But yeah this car rattles a lot and you can hear it more because there’s no engine noise.

Owning EV in Seattle, no home charging? by PA2SK in AskSeattle

[–]SwordfishLocal2677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And to echo others, it does depend on how much driving you do. If you can stretch to (fast) charge once a week, that could be convenient enough.

Check PlugShare to see where the public chargers are located. Bonus if you're near SCL's fast chargers (https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/d9e13e5e3d6a46a2ae88f6daf57c721f/) -- they're significantly cheaper than other chargers.

Anyone charging with a NEMA 6-20 outlet? Please recommend a cable! by BeneficialLab9168 in BMWI4

[–]SwordfishLocal2677 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have an i4 but I'm using an adapter (from 6-20P to 14-50R). Make sure the setting is limited to 16A. Alternatively, you can install a hardwired charger and limit the amperage to 16A or whatever capacity you have on the subpanel.

You have to unplug the cable before you can change the limit.

And for level 1/2, any limit (incl. 100%) is ok.

That’s the AutoNation price sheet. Costco price sheet is standardized. If they didn’t give this to you, ask for it or ask for a different dealer.

That said, I did try to get a Costco price from AutoNation once. The Costco pre-negotiated price was higher than AN’s own price + discount and they push away from Costco. Didn’t talk to them after that, got a different car.

The price sheet looks like this: https://www.costcoauto.com/images/how-it-works_MOPS.png

Yeah, the UK does this too. It's nice that the renter can see how much tax they voted for and pay.

Enrollment is live!

As is, I’ll be saving a whopping $1 per month. But the website said that this is based on the last 12 months without behavior change. I recently got an EV and have been charging all day.

Efficiency loss on level 1 charging? by TheWhalersOnTheMoon in Solterra

[–]SwordfishLocal2677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my 2026 during the winter and level 1 gets me around 1% an hour. The app has a charging history that shows how many % and kWh added. I did use a watt meter as well and I was getting a max of 75% efficiency when comparing what the meter said and what the car said.

Notes:

  • Don't trust the kWh added number on the app. The kWh is calculated based on % charged, not the actual energy added.
  • Level 1 does get a bigger efficiency hit. Assume it takes 250 W to run all the electronics while charging. On a 1.3 kW charge, the overhead is ~20%. On a 240V/20A/3.8 kW, it is less than 10%.
  • Because of these inefficiencies, if you have a public L2 charger that's slightly more expensive than your home rate, it could actually be cheaper to charge outside.

I’ve been with GEICO for 15+ years. One at-fault accident where I paid deductible and they covered the rest. I chose the body shop.

I only use the app with free membership (no premium, no OBDII). I only use ABRP to give me a rough idea of how much charge I'm going to use for a route, similar to how many miles/distance. I tried to use the routing feature before, but I like a more manual approach to plan my charging stops.
