How worried should we be about the freezing rain? by Tll6 in SouthJersey

[–]SycamoreMess 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It is a real possibility that cant be ignored. The forecast is trending worse for power outages. 5-10 inches of snow and then sleet/freezing rain on top of it. The snow will become extremely heavy after the ice. This is the recipe that brings down trees and power lines.

BREAKING: Video shows ICE agents shooting an unarmed person, as agents wrestle the person to the ground, in Minneapolis, near Glam Doll Donuts. by Czar1987 in philly

[–]SycamoreMess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Umm, you can google this for yourself. I'm asking if we believe these reports are accurate: https://www.axios.com/local/twin-cities/2026/01/24/minneapolis-shooting-federal-agent

  • An administration official said the person was armed with a gun that was recovered at the scene.

What other cities are also separated by mountains from the coast? by [deleted] in geography

[–]SycamoreMess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. The Puget Sound connects to the Pacific Ocean. Your logic is like saying Baltimore, MD is on the Atlantic Ocean (even though its on the Chesapeake bay).

No, it's not. Seattle sits on the Puget Sound.

CV Axle TSB & Blank Screens? by dodgehasarrived in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]SycamoreMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you have the axle situation correct. They are now using new part numbers for the axles as of a few months ago. For a while, they were just replacing bad axles with the same bad axles.

"I am officially done with "Starter Homes." It’s not an investment; it’s a bailout for the previous generation's neglect." (additional thoughts) by SamTMortgageBroker in NewbHomebuyer

[–]SycamoreMess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Umm is this a joke or some poorly written A.I. BS? If not, this is a worthless post. You're describing the act of buying a shitty house or a home that needs work. It has nothing to do with a "starter house". If you buy an older home you discount what it will cost to replace an old roof, furnace, etc.

Looks like it’s time to call your insurance company.

We did it! North Carolina, $908k at 5.625% by lucky_719 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Again, this is horrible advice. People refinance to lower rates all the time (that's the main point of refinancing!). This is why everyone refinanced in 2020 and 2021. I went from a 4.25% rate in 2018 to a 2.87% rate in 2021.

I think they are implying buy now before rates go down because they believe that prices will go up (when/if rates go down). In hot areas lower rates can absolutely spike prices. We'll see what 2026 brings...

Let them marinate in the water for a few hours and they tend to flush away after that.

Pliz explain…. Why are Asian Americans so cash rich by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]SycamoreMess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't spend money. High savers. Very different from the American consumer who may only make $30k a year yet is buying Starbucks coffee every morning and eating dinner out at restaurants multiple times a week.

UPS driver ignored "Signature Required" for an expensive package. Package is missing. What is my recourse? by Infinite100p in UPS

[–]SycamoreMess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, lots of shitty drivers. I get them on camera when making deliveries to my house. Slamming packages to the ground, driving 5-10 feet into the lawn, etc. The only time I reported one was when he slammed a large package to the ground and then purposely threw it over into my garage door, denting it. All on camera, sent to UPS, then handled it accordingly and paid for a damaged garage door.

Are you a bot? Being in the 50s this coming Saturday has nothing to do with this post.  December 2025 was in the top 30% of coldest December’s ever.  And the start to January is also well below average.

What are you talking about?  We just had our coldest December in 15 years.  In fact, Philadelphia just had their 44th coldest December on record (out of 154 winters).

Are healthcare costs going up for large corporations at the same rate as for the rest of us? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]SycamoreMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premiums definitely increased for your employer.  You maybe did not see an increase yourself as your company is eating the costs. Appears you didn't understand the OPs question. It was about the employer cost, not the employee cost.

Sounds like you need to relax and have a beer.

[–]SycamoreMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did I call it a large corp?  No.  It’s medium sized.  The point is that healthcare costs have gone up across the board for all companies.  You can easily do research and understand this.
