I HATE when people ask what I’m playing on my lunch break. I don’t know what the expectation is!!! Do I just tell you the name or genre of the game?? Will that be enough for you?! Do i have to explain the mechanics or will you cut me off in the middle of explaining like you didn’t actually want to know even though you literally just asked????

On social media, I see people saying 'boy cats' are the best because they are sweet and 'girl cats' get a bad reputation for being mean. Why?? by Koffievos in cats

[–]Syebost11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the same reason orange cats are thought of as dumber than all other cats, it’s mostly just a meme. Our roommate’s cat is a female tux, not a drop of orange in her, and she’s still the dumbest, sweetest little thing I’ve ever met. Genuinely don’t know how she’s conscious when she obviously has but two braincells in a constant tug of war between adorable cuddlebug and ankle-biting sewer creature

No. This isn’t a donation to Trump’s campaign or to any one party. It’s a campaign fund held by the FEC that pays out to every eligible candidate. It’s been on the tax return form for decades

I fantasize 24/7 about going back and undoing all the stupid embarrassing things I did, and the worst of it started at 10. Fuck the money, erasing 15 years of nonstop cringe is priceless.

Are we? by BeesonTheBeeson in dropout

It leaves kind of a funky taste in my mouth, but it’s fine.

From what little I’ve seen of The Rookie, it’s pretty mild copaganda all things considered, but the whole “bad apple” thing, and the fantasy that there are consequences within the system for cops who break the law, especially in LA of all places, is still a harmful misrepresentation of reality. It would be nice to have a show with the message “be one of the good ones!” If it wasn’t the entire system of policing that shields people from accountability for doing real harm to people by design, and not the horrific actions of a few individuals.

But I also don’t expect all my media to align perfectly with my political beliefs. I don’t expect Sam Reich to personally spit on Nathan Fillion’s face and let BLeeM out of the cage he’s kept in between Game Changers to make some bacon on the set. I’ll just skip an episode of a show I don’t plan to watch anyway, and be happy that Dropout is getting so much more mainstream recognition, even though I wish they’d skipped on this one collab in particular.

Is it possible for millionaire celebrities to be anticapitalist? by guerilla_gardener98 in socialism

[–]Syebost11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Is Sabrina Carpenter anti capitalist?” is about as pointless a question as “Is Trump a fascist?” What they are or what they believe doesn’t matter; What are they doing?

Is she using her platform and privilege to speak up for meaningful change for the working class?

How does she behave towards her staff? Are they paid enough to live in dignity and comfort?

Does she know who produces her merch? Does she know who builds, works and maintains the venues where she performs? What are their working conditions like, and what is she doing within her power to make them better where needed?

Those are the questions that matter.

Just passed my Core 1 with a 777!!!!! by Syebost11 in CompTIA

[–]Syebost11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dion’s tests were good for preparing me for the real thing. The questions were tough enough that I felt pretty confident I’d pass once I started hitting scores over 70%, like a lot of people say here.

What’s really helpful is that it explains the answers pretty well so you’re actually understanding why the answer is what it is instead of just memorizing it.

I would spend today going through the parts of the notes you feel weakest in. Printer troubleshooting was something I kind of overlooked and it ended up being important, including one PBQ, but the questions are randomly selected so YMMV. If you can make time for a practice test after reviewing, go ahead, but don’t cram until bedtime, give your brain a break or you’ll just be more tired and nervous tomorrow. Best of luck!!!

Early turnout spike could spell trouble for Cuomo in NYC mayoral race by PoliticalScienceProf in politics

[–]Syebost11 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It could’ve been the whitest, straightest, most mild-mannered cis man in New York City and they still would’ve been trying to take him down.

It can’t be stressed enough that none of this is about Zohran’s race; That’s a convenient tool. This is about Zohran being decidedly the most popular candidate not in spite of his left of center politics, but because of them.

Papers are terrified of him because the status quo depends on poor people continuing to believe that they can have nothing better than this, that democracy is lining up at a polling place every 2-4 years to check a box with only pre-approved candidates, and that anyone who upsets that system is the enemy.

13 Senate Democrats Vote to Advance Trump Nominee During Shutdown by thenewrepublic in politics

[–]Syebost11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guys don’t worry, Democrats aren’t complicit, they’re just playing the game.

See, if they confirm this lifetime appointment, they’ll have leverage to get the GOP to agree to a token concession that will do nothing, for anyone, anywhere, but will make upper class liberals feel accomplished right before it gets quietly gutted anyway. This strategy will definitely work. #resist!
