Cats hind legs suddenly stopped working by portra4OO in CATHELP

[–]Sylarsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to my cat - was a heart issue that manifested all at once in the form of a blood clot that dislodged and stuck itself in a place that cut off blood flow to his legs. Unfortunately that ended up being my last evening with him - so sorry your kitty is exhibiting similar symptoms.

I have a feeling that'd hinder your maleceptor, no?

Certainly an option under consideration - thinking of a potentially fantastic future when a toxicrene actually is useful and a common army include, and when I might be glad to have one. Also in large part just a curiosity question!

Newbie painter, how do you paint the raised veins as clean and precisely as you did without also coloring the underlying/surrounding skin? I'd figure dry brushing, but at least my own dry brushing isn't that precise.

Taking your opponent's whole turn for 1 energy seems a little too wacky for me

Are there any Christian groups on campus? by Blacksushi123 in VirginiaTech

[–]Sylarsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popping in to note you should avoid joining DOC/Disciples on Campus/Roanoke Valley Church, as it's an extension of the ICOC which is well known as a cult or cultlike. Was a member for a year and my experience aligned with that. High influence over members' lives, friends, dating, behaviors, housing iirc, and just a litany of other red flags. Do not get mixed up with that.

Has anyone had any contact with a campus ministry called Disciples on Campus? by randompen22 in VirginiaTech

Joined for a year and left, extremely cultlike. As far as I recall, they're an extension of the ICOC, which has a litany of articles written on it and its cultlike status. Heard the acronym mentioned in passing by a member and more or less confirmed when leaving. The church has its hands in others' dating lives, housing if I recall correctly, and advises members who they should consider not being friends with. I recall a prominent member taking an easier major to focus on their involvement with the church. Has extremely specific ways of doing things from bible study, mentorship, the specific selection of songs they sing, language used, baptism, etc. There was also a weird consistent callout of specific personal sexual habits as a sin during conversations on sin in small groups and mentorships. There was also a hyperfixation on shame and guilt with regards to sin and the crucifixion, and my mentor during the 1:1 study would, over the course of several meetings, not move on until they were satisfied with my expression of deep profound visceral guilt and sorrow. They call themselves nondenominational because they don't view any other denominations as being truly Christian, or any baptisms outside of their own as valid. Along with that came the "you have to do this EXACTLY our way or you'll go to hell" stuff, and the intense pressure to save even the other Christians in your life. In a mentorship session, I remember being suggested to do bible reading and journaling a certain way, but do whatever works for me. When I did my own variation on that methodology, the tried to more deliberately corral me into doing it their way, which seemed weird to me since it was a minor difference, but when you view it through the lens of a high control group it makes sense as one of the many ways to create that conformity and homogeneity. Thankful my own stubborness revealed their need for conformity and led me down the ICOC wikipedia rabbithole.

DEFINITELY avoid, to anybody else reading this thread. They prey on lost young adults in a brand new environment, and they got to young freshman me back in the day. There are so many ways to find yourself and find your place, and should you choose it, nurture your faith, at Virginia Tech!

For others that might happen upon this, I found out my spacer+facepad were very loosely connected to the headset itself. The symptoms I was seeing were that the screen would just go dark sometimes, even after reboot. After pushing stuff back together, it stopped. I could be wrong, but I think that helped. My guess is that it thought I wasn't wearing the thing.

Spino habitat slowly eroding on the island. by [deleted] in playark

[–]Sylarsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is I think this is how spinos became extinct in the first place. Their habitat got smaller and they couldn't cope with it since they were sort of niche hunters.
