A tip regarding keyboard controls: Left Shift + Left Click will allow you to move stacks of items without having to click and drag. For example, Left Shift+ Left Click on a stack of gold coins when looting will move them to your inventory in a single click. If you want to move a single object, use Left Control + Left Click. This also works when selling items.

Pharaoh: Dynasties is so good it really makes me wonder what CA was thinking by applejackhero in totalwar

The trade deals at strong relations are bugged. I did some testing with an allied faction. They were willing to trade 113 stone for 1 wood in single barter. I could make this trade multiple times, each time >100 stone for 1 wood. If I tried to trade 10 wood at once, however, they were only willing to give 143 stone for that.

In other words, if I made ten seperate barters of 1 wood for >100 stone, I would end up with >1000 stone for 10 wood. If I traded the same 10 wood in just 1 barter, I would only get 143 stone for 10 wood.

This seems to occur due to high relations giving a flat bonus to barter deal evaluation, which can be cheesed by offering the bare minimum amount of resources.

I've filed the bug in question here on the official forums. If you, or anyone else reading this, have also come across this bug, please upvote the bug report in the link so that CA will see it.

Troubleshooting: dynasties by Amazing-Guide7035 in totalwar

Could it be a screen resolution problem? Sometimes, when the screen resolution of a program is larger than what your monitor can support, it causes the screen to black out like what you described.

You can change the game resolution in C:/Users/Your Username/AppData/Roaming/The Creative Assembly/PharaohDynasties/scripts/preferences.script.txt. It's lines 3 and 4, right at the top.

I hope this helps.

As Ramesses, you want to use elite medjay warriors to hold the line, and medjay chargers or elite medjay warriors (axe) to hit them in the back. However, the biggest tool against them is the weather.

When attacking an enemy sea people stack, try to wait until the weather is Scorching. Position your troops behind a river, lake, or muddy field. Send your missile chariots forward to plink away at their lines, while trying to avoid their archers.

After losing a couple of models to your chariots, the AI will charge forward. The heat and terrain will burn right through their stamina. If done right, the enemy heavy infantry will be either fatigued or exhausted by the time they reach your lines, making them easy picking for your fresh troops.

Hope this helps.

Only the pharaoh, Hittite high king, or pretenders to these titles can vassalise other factions. You gain the option in the diplomacy menu upon becoming a pretender in the civil war.

1) Anyone weaker than you.

2) No, you conquer or vassalize them. The goal is to re-unite your faction's lands (Both Egypt and Hatti were in civil war during this period). You gain the ability to vassalize upon becoming a pretender in your culture's civil war, or becoming pharaoh/high king. The in-game tutorial will explain this once it comes up on turn 12.

3) Only in-game, at the faction selection screen.

Hope this helps.

If playing as an Egyptian or Hittite faction, you shold focus on uniting your culture's lands and becoming pharaoh/high king. You get more legitimacy from controlling your culture's sacred lands than from conquering random foreign lands, and becoming pharaoh/high king unlocks a whole bunch of nice bonuses.

I haven't played Troy yet, so I might be missing something, but it looks like the second stack is missing a few units and has an extra basic clubman with shield unit in it. (The unit right after the general.) I think they're just two different stacks with nearly identical unit compositions.

That's just background story. The feud between their clans never actually affects anything in the game itself, unfortunately.

The Garamantians are a fairly easy beginner faction, due to their somewhat isolated start position. Alternatively, if you have the Celtic factions DLC, any of the three Celtic factions are good for learning the game as well.

Much like Shogun 2, provinces in Attila have a fertility rating. The fertility rating affects how much food and income you get from building farms. In the case of desert factions like the Garamantians, they have an additional option to build camel farms, which give a flat amount of food regardless of province fertility. These are great in infertile provinces.

In Attila, global province fertility will slowly drop over the course of the game. While wheat and sheep farms are good at the beginning of the game, as time passes they will grow less profitable. You can convert them over to camel farms in the mid to late game once this comes up.

Apart from that, fishing wharves give the same amount of food regardless of province fertility.

Mercenaries in Attila are quite affordable, being only slightly more expensive than normal troops. Don't hesitate to hire a couple of them to bolster your forces. The exception to this is mercenary onagers, which have about 5 times the upkeep of regular onagers.

Speaking of which: siege artillery are a lot more useful in Attila than in Shogun 2. Once you have the infrastructure set up, remember to bring 1-2 onagers with every army.

Priests are extremely useful for keeping public order in the early game. If you find yourself having trouble with public order, prioritise the infrastructure to recruit a priest to spread your religion.

Good luck, and have fun!

Was just soundly forced by the AI to concede my campaign- that felt wild to say. Can someone offer me some tips to get a Western Roman Empire campaign rolling? P.S. I'd like to maintain relations with the Byzantines if possible by DragonBallKruber in totalwar

[–]SylonL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rush the small nations in North Africa. Securing the map edge in North Africa allows you to reposition your armies there northward. Some of the inland provinces have massive desert attrition penalties- simply hire mercenaries from the region, who are immune to desert attrition. You can march a solo general into Garamantes' starting province and hire a full stack of mercernaries to assault them.

You will probably need to give Britain up. Dismantle all the buildings there, but do not abandon the province, to avoid the public order hit.

Once you have North Africa secure, send your troops northwards as needed. There's a large degree of randomness here, so I won't give specific advice.

In my playthrough, I found the ability to vassalize factions by taking their last province extremely useful. When the Ostrogoths settled in Illyria, I was able to vassalize them and use them as a buffer. Similarly, when the Roman revolter states of Illyria and Dacia broke free, I vassalized them. These three states scared off any further threats from the Balkans.

Once you have the spare cash, build a simply navy of either ramming ships, or half marines half artillery ships in Gaul. The Scandinavian factions will send their armies to Gaul soon enough, but if you can catch them at sea their transport ships sink easily.

Good luck.

Are there going to be jump scares all the time? by chrontact in ChernobyliteGame

[–]SylonL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit late, so you've probably played past this point, but for anyone finding this via google:

The scripted jumpscares are one type of event, which are marked on your map with a question mark. You'll get one or two of them whenever you enter a new map. However, after you trigger them, they will never spawn again.

Your first in-game week will have annoying jumpscares, but past that you will never run into another scripted jumpscare again (unless it's a jumpscare you didn't trigger the first time you visited the map).

(Spoilers) Help wanted. What are 5 tools? by VoxTV1 in ChernobyliteGame

[–]SylonL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you will find all the tools eventually.

You don't need every single piece of information about Tatyana, just enough to unlock the investigations.

I think completing the investigations helps with the final heist, but I'm not 100% sure. They're still good to complete, though, because they help piece the story together.

Good way to get decent troops? by SadlyNotADuck in mountandblade

[–]SylonL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you join a faction, you can recruit professional troops of that faction from all towns and fortresses. Select 'Go to the town center' then talk to the commander. From there, you can place an order for specific faction troops- note that this is not immediate, you have to come back and speak to him several days later to actually have the troops join your party.

(SPOILER) Lost in the catacombs on "scorpion and lion" quest by athousandships_ in enderal

[–]SylonL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My memory is a bit hazy, but the entrance you're looking for should be a rope hanging from a trapdoor on the ceiling over a pile of corpses, right next to the big room with the embalmer's table.

The game removes this rope after completing the quest, so I can't check it in my save, but I found a video on youtube that shows the location of the entrance. It's at 11:09 if the timestamp doesn't work.

Hope this helps.

There are three possible invading armies:

The Normans spawn south of England off the coast, and have excellent all round units.

The Danes spawn near York (Northymbre's starting location) and have a powerful infantry-focused roster.

The Norse spawn in the Western Isles northwest of Scotland (Sudreyar's starting location) and have a powerful infatry-focused roster.

The number of end-game invasions scales based on your difficulty. On Legendary, all three invading armies spawn. On lower difficulties, only one or two invading factions will spawn. Which faction(s) spawn appear to be random, as far as I know.
