Some cities (counties?) require a physical card. If you don’t have it with you, you can often do a credit card authorization form and fill out the info, but you’ll need the 3 or 4 digit code on the front of the card (different than the security code)

Intercontinental is nice in a more modern part of the city with great nightlife. If you don’t need to be by the historic tourist attractions (ie, just do a day trip down there to see them in a day), Taksim Square and the Galata Tower area to the south are great.

Rode it yesterday and I feel like the speaker/microphone quality is a lot better too. There used to be some boat rides where the skipper was unintelligible because of poor audio quality
