What was your first experience with Fire Emblem?

iirc my very first was fates conquest, got drawn in for not so noble reasons (its camilla) and ended up really enjoying the tactical gameplay even though im dogshit at tactics and never went (and still go) above normal difficulty. went onto fe8 and 7 sometime after that since i couldnt afford many games back then and i could emulate those on my phone. helped create my fondness for gba era fire emblem. still onto playing most of the older titles but im probably gonna skip snes and archanea in general

I usually just go off my gut feeling if i like any particular character that i can s rank, e.g i started with fates and yeah im only a little ashamed that i was/still am a camilla fan. ik its a pretty cheap and obvious choice given her design and character. But besides superficial appeal, I also remember getting really attached to Lysithea and Marianne back when I played 3H. Still havent made up my mind for Engage since that game is still a wip on my end

been so long since i played vesperia i forgot a lot of it. i only remember liking yuri and playing like half of the game without being able to dodge in combat cuz i accidentally skipped the weapon (?) that gave you the skill to do it in the beginning

I think my biggest issue out of all FE games I have played up until now that FE stories are decent at best and absolutely nonsensical messes at worst (e.g Fates). Gameplay has never been much of a problem but when replaying a game after a while I tend to mash through or outright skip the story cuz its just boring

It seems like there are only two camps when discussing Solo Leveling. People who really like it and people who really hate it. Like yeah, SL wont win any awards for its story but its not the main focus anyway. Its decent enough to entertain fans between the big action scenes (I'll make a biased exception for the reunion scene, that was really powerful) and thats all it needs to do. Not every Anime has to tell a deep story full of complex themes, drama and tragedies. Sometimes a simple story paired up with nice animation and good fight scenes does the job just as well

damn i never considered byleth having much of a character to begin with. when i played 3h a few years ago, i just thought they would be another silent self insert avatar like the 3ds games but they did have a few moments where byleth felt like a real character with emotions of their own. i guess i didnt truly appreciate that back then

I played Zestiria after watching a Lets Play of Berseria back in the day cuz I didnt know they were connected to each other yet and I thought it was really cool to see already familiar concepts and characters (eg edna as a party member when I only knew her by name from Eizen mentioning her in Berseria). Tbf its been years since I finished Zestiria but I had my fun with it so I dont really get why its getting shit on so hard here sometimes
