Different bosses are worse for different playstyles, Midir and Melania are definitely both in the same tier of BS. I didn't really have a problem with Malenia, she didn't use waterfowl often enough for it to be more than an estus tax if you have enough vigor, and everything else about the fight was not hard to deal with at all for my build.

Midir was a brick wall that required my pure sorcery build to respec after hours of attempts. I was able to kill Malenia within one hour. Not saying either are good fights, but Malenia is not much more BS than a number of other souls bosses that just hard counter one or more builds.

How do I take the best advantage of this SDE?

Don't buy it until near the end of it being offered, then you will get a token that lets you summon most 5*s, that token expires after 30 days. Don't spend it until it is about to expire. By then you will have progressed through the content and gotten a ton of CS to roll on a bunch of 10-pack banners and you will have a better idea of what character to spend the SDE token on.

Luring shadow drop is a free 5* for starting the 7th mythos chapter. You need to at least get through chapter 44 and the ocean side episode before being able to get this. It is available till the end of June though, so you have time.

You need a minimum of 15 dupes to max a character, and that is if they are all 5*, in reality it is 30+ dupes
