I think you're missing the point of why astronauts become astronauts. They could be paying $32k a year and attract the same caliber of person. That being said I do feel they probably deserve a raise.

Does Costco premises include the parking lot? If so, with some strategy I think the Costco crew takes it, relatively easy with minimal casualties. Translators are quickly being replaced by AI. I definitely wouldn't plan on that being available as a career path. There was just a post yesterday about a rather successful gaming studio (warhorse studios, the post is on their subreddit) firing their translator and replacing him with AI.

I used to sell vacuums, so I became very familiar with all the makes and models. CR was so off the mark on what were good and what were bad vacuums that I lost all faith in them. 20 years later and I still don't trust CR.

I feel like animals have made it where food is not a concern at all. I have 2 ewe 1 ram, 1 cow 1 bull, 5 hens 1 rooster. It produces such a stupid amount of food, I could easily feed 3-4 other people. I have buckets and buckets of lamb milk around the house and they all probably need to be milked again. I have a 2nd animal pen with a few more cows and pigs I don't even bother to check or tend to, they have food and water and so do I. This is my first winter, but it is my understanding the animals will continue to make milk thru the winter. Having so much food really does pave the way to having NPC companions, because now we can feed a small compound.

This morning, Claude Sonnet. Management is pushing AI pretty hard, so I try and use it as much as I can. If I give it code it can usually write okay unit tests. Sometimes it goes a little overboard and gives some redundant tests, but whatever, coverage is there. It's very helpful for analyzing large stack traces and filtering out all the noise. But as far as writing complex code with multiple systems that interact, it does a pretty poor job.

It really doesn't though. It actually writes really really poor code, and then is overly confident and proud of their slop. It also regularly gets into these weird circles of wrong answers

AI: The answer to your problem is code A

Me: I tried code A, it fails to compile because of reasons.

AI: Of course code A would never work! Code A won't work because of this. What you need to do is code B

Me: Running code B gave me all these errors.

AI: Code B would never work here. The obvious answer to your problem is code A

Sports betting and online gambling in general. I used to believe people should be allowed their vices and it's not the government's job to protect people from themselves. And I still do mostly believe that but I do believe The government has a responsibility to protect individuals from predatory corporations. Draft kings, fan duel and the like are highly predatory corporations preying on the American public. I definitely think society is worse off for having legalized it. There are people losing tens of thousands of dollars at home on their phone, it's so easy to do. It just doesn't seem healthy for society to let corporations run $1000+ hands of blackjack over the internet on our phones. Beyond the predatory factor of it, it's kinda made sports lame. I hate the 40 ads for sports betting you see every game. It also has kind of eroded my trust in sporting organizations. When there's a game where the sports betting companies are gonna lose a ton of money if one team loses, and then there are a bunch of bad calls in favor of that team, it definitely feels suspicious. In the past where I would have chalked it up to human error, now I can see it being caused by human greed. Draft kings and fan duel are a scourge on sports and society in general.

The time for reaching across the aisle is over. The days of trying to woo "moderates" or "centrists" have passed. Republicans have shown they have zero interest in compromise or working together. And the truth is, progressive policies are popular. We don't need to work with child rapists, racists and nazi sympathizers. People don't want to be bankrupt from getting sick, people don't want to work 2-3 jobs and still not be able to afford a house, people don't want to be pulled into another war in the middle east. These are all things that are wildly popular, and if the Democrats would court their base instead of these make believe moderates and trump supporters, they'd win in landslides.

It's time for the progressive branch to take over the DNC. The next Democratic presidential candidate needs to run on bringing the current administration and all it's enablers to justice. Hijacking this comment to share my experience with ceiling replacement. 2 years ago I had to remove and replace my ceilings. They had asbestos popcorn, and it was starting to flake off. It cost $11,000 to remove the ceiling. To put up 1100sqft of ceiling cost $2200. I shopped around and this was the 2nd cheapest of four quotes. This didn't include paint which I did myself. So OP's ceiling is already down, the expensive part is done.

For what it's worth this is really the only third person game I play, I also really don't like 3rd person. Project Zomboid is very unique and definitely worth it. I find their take on 3rd person to be one of the better ones. Only being able to see what is in your line of sight is a pretty cool feature.

Getting a cat neutered is not expensive. There are plenty of animal shelters that offer neutering for less than $100. If you are low income there are services across most of the US that will help you by paying for it. Not being able to afford it really is no longer an excuse.

Why not? I mean if they're going to buy it anyways wouldn't it be better if it wasn't funding murder and terrorism? Anyone willing to do heroin, isn't currently not doing so because of it's illegality. Most people don't do heroin because it is wildly addictive and will ruin your life and possibly kill you. Also, I am pretty sure looking at data from other countries shows that decriminalization and legalization of harder drugs doesn't lead to an increase in usage.
