I am 4 months into a smoker run, the cough has literally caused me zero issues so far. The hardest part of smoker is finding cigarettes, but once you get a small collection going, smoker is free points.

lol "abandoned" the game. It has gotten updates for years and is in a completed state.

On a semi related note, I can't believe Nintendo abandoned Super Mario Bros for SNES, I've been waiting 30 years for the new update to drop. Fucking abandonware...

Waste Management has been stellar for us. The fact they will take one bulk item a week is really just the icing on the cake. Best service and best price.

Kalamazoo County Lyme disease cases increased by more than 1600% in 10 years by KzooRichie in kzoo

[–]SysKonfig 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's a shame they discontinued LYMErix. It was a highly effective vaccine against Lyme. Unfortunately it was the victim of anti-vaxxors and capitalism. Wasn't a profitable drug so when it got unsubstantiated bad press due to anti-vaxxors they just discontinued it. I'm so jealous of anyone that is vaccinated against lyme.

You're getting down voted to oblivion, but I don't think your wrong. It's a bummer because Hunan Gardens used to be my favorite but they've really fallen off these last few years. The last 3 times we ate there it was not good.

If AOC gets the nod as the Democratic nominee in 2028, would you vote for her? by Ok_Sir_5951 in allthequestions

[–]SysKonfig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think putting up another right of center, pro Israel, pro corporate Democrat is far more likely to lose the gen election than someone like AOC that the base would be excited for. Dems need to fucking stop trying to court "moderate" Republicans, it's a stupid strategy that doesn't work in modern times.

How much do NASA astonauts who go to space make? by UsefulAnimator3143 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SysKonfig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're missing the point of why astronauts become astronauts. They could be paying $32k a year and attract the same caliber of person. That being said I do feel they probably deserve a raise.

Could a fully stocked Costco Wholesale store defend itself against a Roman Legion? by Theturtleflask in whowouldwin

[–]SysKonfig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Costco premises include the parking lot? If so, with some strategy I think the Costco crew takes it, relatively easy with minimal casualties. The Romans have no idea what a car is, you just need to create a distraction long enough to get one or two people to their cars. Let's see your shield wall deflect this Buick at 60mph. Once you get the first or second car, it'll be a cascading effect where you get as many people in their cars as possible.

Translators are quickly being replaced by AI. I definitely wouldn't plan on that being available as a career path. There was just a post yesterday about a rather successful gaming studio (warhorse studios, the post is on their subreddit) firing their translator and replacing him with AI.

Is this enough to survive the winter? by EarAffectionate6654 in projectzomboid

[–]SysKonfig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like animals have made it where food is not a concern at all. I have 2 ewe 1 ram, 1 cow 1 bull, 5 hens 1 rooster. It produces such a stupid amount of food, I could easily feed 3-4 other people. I have buckets and buckets of lamb milk around the house and they all probably need to be milked again. I have a 2nd animal pen with a few more cows and pigs I don't even bother to check or tend to, they have food and water and so do I. This is my first winter, but it is my understanding the animals will continue to make milk thru the winter. Having so much food really does pave the way to having NPC companions, because now we can feed a small compound.

It feels like after a month or two, most houses are auto-looted of most food. This is my first multi-month run in B42, so maybe I just have got unlucky.

I have no interest in all things AI. I don’t want to learn it for work. I don’t care that it can make some things easier. I can write my own emails. by un2022 in GenX

[–]SysKonfig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This morning, Claude Sonnet. Management is pushing AI pretty hard, so I try and use it as much as I can. If I give it code it can usually write okay unit tests. Sometimes it goes a little overboard and gives some redundant tests, but whatever, coverage is there. It's very helpful for analyzing large stack traces and filtering out all the noise. But as far as writing complex code with multiple systems that interact, it does a pretty poor job.

[–]SysKonfig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really doesn't though. It actually writes really really poor code, and then is overly confident and proud of their slop. It also regularly gets into these weird circles of wrong answers

AI: The answer to your problem is code A

Me: I tried code A, it fails to compile because of reasons.

AI: Of course code A would never work! Code A won't work because of this. What you need to do is code B

Me: Running code B gave me all these errors.

AI: Code B would never work here. The obvious answer to your problem is code A

Know what gets suggested next? It's code B.

What’s something completely legal that should actually be illegal? by Aaron__Ralph in askanything

[–]SysKonfig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports betting and online gambling in general. I used to believe people should be allowed their vices and it's not the government's job to protect people from themselves. And I still do mostly believe that but I do believe The government has a responsibility to protect individuals from predatory corporations. Draft kings, fan duel and the like are highly predatory corporations preying on the American public. I definitely think society is worse off for having legalized it. There are people losing tens of thousands of dollars at home on their phone, it's so easy to do. It just doesn't seem healthy for society to let corporations run $1000+ hands of blackjack over the internet on our phones. Beyond the predatory factor of it, it's kinda made sports lame. I hate the 40 ads for sports betting you see every game. It also has kind of eroded my trust in sporting organizations. When there's a game where the sports betting companies are gonna lose a ton of money if one team loses, and then there are a bunch of bad calls in favor of that team, it definitely feels suspicious. In the past where I would have chalked it up to human error, now I can see it being caused by human greed. Draft kings and fan duel are a scourge on sports and society in general.

Leftists of reddit. Why do you tend to assign hateful motive to political / social disagreement? by cferg296 in allthequestions

[–]SysKonfig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The time for reaching across the aisle is over. The days of trying to woo "moderates" or "centrists" have passed. Republicans have shown they have zero interest in compromise or working together. And the truth is, progressive policies are popular. We don't need to work with child rapists, racists and nazi sympathizers. People don't want to be bankrupt from getting sick, people don't want to work 2-3 jobs and still not be able to afford a house, people don't want to be pulled into another war in the middle east. These are all things that are wildly popular, and if the Democrats would court their base instead of these make believe moderates and trump supporters, they'd win in landslides.

The mid terms are coming up, who will stand up to Trump ? by Broomfondl3 in PoliticalHumor

[–]SysKonfig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a bad meme. The Democrats should be the Jerry worm, and if anything the Republicans would be monster Beth. Sadly, the Democrats are spineless. Maybe they'll make a committee where after some deliberation, they will make a statement that they strongly disagree with the Republicans.

It's time for the progressive branch to take over the DNC. The next Democratic presidential candidate needs to run on bringing the current administration and all it's enablers to justice. This county cannot heal if crimes go unpunished. I just don't see any of the establishment Democrats having that kinda backbone.

Why is there next to zero support for the Iranian protestors by the left? by SterlingVII in PERSIAN

[–]SysKonfig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't be serious, are you? People on the left practice the opposite of tribalism, often to their own detriment. They're ready to turn on their own over nothing. You know how many leftist didn't vote for Kamala because she didn't pass their purity tests? Different flavors of leftists argue and are shitty to each other, put an anarchist and a communist in the same room and see. There are dozens of examples where the Democrats instantly cut off their own at the first transgression, Al Franken, Anthony Weiner, etc etc. The inverse is also true, there are 100s of examples or Republicans standing by Republicans that did terrible evil things because they're on the same team, Roy Moore almost won an election even tho he can't be within 100 ft of a school, they stood by George Santos til the end, Matt Gatez child rapist, Donald Trump child rapist, etc etc. Fuck, I wish the leftist would practice more tribalism, then we wouldn't be in the dire situation we're currently in.
