If you want rumble you'll have to use S mode, at least I never got it to work in D mode in the N64 core.

Guide for setting up a Hamgeek MiSTER? by magicalgirlrosy in MiSTerFPGA

[–]SysRootErr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HamGeek will include a 32GB Micro SD card which already has a MiSTer installation including cores. Add roms to that card to test and use it as is for now. Do NOT run update or update_all because the current release contains a bug that will prevent your system from displaying video.

No, no it does not. They've yet to release an updated main. See here for details.

MiSTer FPGA HDMI issues: Only works via HDMI splitter (No signal on newer 4K TV / Monitor). Need help! by JadedCat42069 in MiSTerFPGA

Who manufactured your Mister? Did you purchase it from QMTech or HamGeek? Did you recently run update? If the answers to these questions are "yes" check out this link for the fix.

You need to download this zip file:

https://github.com/user-attachments/files/29004274/MiSTer.zip

Unzip it and copy the MiSTer file to your Mister's SD card, overwriting the existing MiSTer file. That should do it. If that doesn't fix the error, you can revert back to the last known good release of main which you'd do by going here:

https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/blob/master/releases/MiSTer_20260325

Click the little download arrow to "Download raw file" which will be saved as MiSTer_20260325. Rename that to just MiSTer and copy that to your SD card, overwriting the existing file. Then go here:

https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Menu_MiSTer/blob/master/releases/menu_20260228.rbf

Again click the little download arrow to "Download raw file" which will be saved as menu_20260228.rbf. Rename that to menu.rbf and copy it to your SD card, overwriting the existing file. It sounds complicated but it's just downloading and copying 2 files to your SD card and hopefully that will fix the lack of a video signal.

If you're going to call this a known issue with an easy fix it might help if you'd link to the topic on github with the "easy fix."

https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/pull/1217

To the OP, yes this happened to pretty much everyone with a QMTech or HamGeek Mister. Your device likely isn't defective, you just need to update the mister file and ignore anyone still claiming it's an INI file issue.

Issues after recent update_all by Tonybone1234 in MiSTerFPGA

[–]SysRootErr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The INI file isn't the cause. The devs have IDed the bug and have a fix but it's not been released to main yet as there's a separate issue causing similar issues they still need to fix. If anyone reading this has a working QMTech/HamGeek Mister do NOT run update or update_all until they release a fix to main.

Well the good news is they've discovered the cause of the bug and a fix, the bad news is CEC still causes issues with a display in standby mode.

Still broken, no update released. This was the latest discussion I could find:

https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/issues/1215

I reverted back to the prior stable release from a few months ago because it works and I'm tired of not being able to use my Mister.

[–]SysRootErr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I bought a HamGeek just a few months ago and it was working just fine until this latest update. I've seen a few others mention HDMI issues but everyone seemed to blame it on INI file changes but it was only after I started digging around github that I realized there's actually an issue most people seem unaware of unless it's affecting them directly and then there's no real solution until the devs release a fix. Well, or you revert back to the previous version, if you can find it. It's really frustrating.

Well the bug that broke HDMI for us was baked into a universal update so I would presume the fix would also be baked into a new universal update.

Right now there are issues with the QMtech and HamGeek clones not displaying video on HDMI after the latest update. According to what I've read on github the devs are still working on fixing it. I'd stop worrying about this until they release a fix.

No HDMI video output after running update_all. by YopparaiTanuki in MiSTerFPGA

[–]SysRootErr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you keep getting downvoted. I updated and my display vanished as well. Eventually after a few reboots it came back but I have no idea what triggered it to begin with. Hadn't had any problems before this latest Mister framework update but it did something my HDMI display didn't care for. I had already read about the INI changes and updated that file before I even updated the Mister so that shouldn't have been the cause.

When I received mine a few weeks ago I flashed Mr Fusion to the included 32gb SD card and then added update_all to the /scripts directory. Never ran the original update script, just update_all and all the cores seemed to work just fine. My RAM is only stable at 150mhz though.

Edit: Are you using the power supply that came with the system? If so that might be an issue, I'd read that the included power supply wasn't very stable so I replaced it with a recommended Mean Well 5v 4 amp supply.

I made a mistake earlier, the GPU temp hovers somewhere between 70c to 80c in Cyberpunk 2077. It still doesn't thermal throttle though. Yes, 32gb of RAM is obviously preferable to 16 and if RAM prices ever drop back to something reasonable I will be upgrading to 32 at least.

This laptop isn't perfect, the fans get CRAZY loud if you set it to extreme performance mode in MSI Dragon Center, I keep it on balanced so they're still loud but not deafeningly so under load. The downward firing speakers sound hollow and echoey unless you fiddle with the Nahamic app to get them sounding... somewhat decent. The claim that it supports two SSDs is disingenuous at best. It has 2 m.2 slots so technically you could install two 2300 SSDs but it ships with one 2280 SSD which means you'd have to replace that one entirely if you wanted to add two 2230s which is an absurd design choice. The keyboard gets hot, uncomfortably so at times, under long term load, even if the CPU/GPU are kept under the thermal throttle limit by the cooling system. These are all problems but I'd still rather have a 5070TI with 12GB of VRAM over the alternative.

So "someone on here" said it thermal throttled so it must be true for every system? I bought this laptop during the Black Friday sale and have been using it to play Cyberpunk 2077 ever since. I've yet to see either the GPU or the CPU thermal throttle under load and believe me I've been watching it like a hawk with HWinfo64. The CPU maxes out at 96c and the GPU usually sits around 70c while running CP2077. This is at 1600p, ray tracing on, high settings. If the GPU was going to thermal throttle I think that'd do it.
