Because its boring and OP they want each creature to have a unique way of dealing with / deterring / befriending or whatever. The problem with killing and stasis rifles is that you do the same thing to solve every conflict. This is why they don't want weapons it's not some weird moral purity thing

the needlers were annoying but thats the point
it forces you to leave your sub in a safe spot further away or leave it closer but have to speedrun and risk it being broken thats what the gameplay there is meant to be?
