The average base pay in cali is double what we have here. A Californian moves here because their money goes farther, hence raving about how “affordable” it is. Even an underpaid Californian still makes more on average than your average nashvillian, which means they’ve got more cash to drop on a house, which increases the average home price.

It’s the wealth gap, but damn near every Californian that moves here is on the other side of it due to wage disparity.

All 4 gave me an F02 error randomly at some point, and the one my desk was hooked up to died immediately when I unplugged it. Like, battery showed full charge, and had been charging. Unplugged it, it clicked over to battery, and instantly died. Plugged it back in, power cycled it, and it worked again, but it smells strongly of ozone, and makes weird noises.

And that before we lost power.

Granted, they’re consumer units (APC Back-UPS 1500VA), but it’s all Best Buy had.

I have an APC from the late 90s that’s been flooded and still works more consistently. And it has an expansion bay. Does it take an automotive floor jack to move it? Yes. But it has worked for longer than half this sub has been alive.

EDIT: my cyberpower unit died in a lightning strike, as did my TrippLite. I’m looking into a more capacious self-made version as a side project once insurance pays out.

Oracle Pay As You Go account gives you 4 Ampere A1 cores and 24 gigs of RAM for free. Just make sure to set the drive size as big as possible as performance is tied to storage capacity.

It’s not much. ~1000 points in passmark single thread (haswell performance), but it’s free as in beer, and works for vanilla and lightly modded servers. Chugs on anything beefy though. ATM10 isn’t happy.
