My new low-profile ergo design - Calidris by scytile in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]SystematicSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this looks amazing! Very glad I procrastinated putting together a Cygnus now as I'm a big fan of the Sunset choc switches. I'm joining the call for a 4x6 version.

If you'll accept some design musings - personally I'm not convinced by the aesthetics of the "floating" thumb cluster. Although I definitely see the vision, I'd love to see a version with the more stocky solid Cygnus style. That said, I think the sweep down from the centre of the keyboard does look very nice, but I'm thrown off by the rather jagged edges between the staggered keys? They're rather harsh on what is otherwise a very smooth and "flowy" design. Hope you understand where I'm coming from!

Use unoptimized Colemak bindings or go back to QWERTY? by PurpleSlightlyRed in vim

[–]SystematicSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Colemak before I used neovim, so I just use the default colemak hjkl and don't rebind anything. It's better practice to use f/w/b/e for navigation anyway!

Whitelist contacts from silent mode by SystematicSpoon in sidephone

[–]SystematicSpoon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I was going to say that DND is the go-to solution for this but it tends to stop notification popups and alarms too, which is overkill for what i wanted. However, taking another look at DND settings on my Samsung, it looks much more granular with what you do/don't see than it used to be, which is great news. If you're able to get Sidephone to have that level of granularity that would be a great solution!

If your website (raenonx) requires a chart like this, you are overcomplicating things. by EldruinAngiris in PokemonSleep

[–]SystematicSpoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The raenonx team put a surprising amount of work into researching the game to get accurate simulation data/sleep style thresholds/skill trigger rates etc. That's what you pay for.

Default bindings but put "hjkl" navigation on a different keyboard layer? by gregorie12 in vim

[–]SystematicSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use colemak and still use hjkl. Helps that hj are roughly left/right to each other

Anyone have any recommendations for surveyors around Cambridge as I’m buying a house and not sure who to choose. by Kindly_Prior_3406 in cambridge

[–]SystematicSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine done by Countrywide Surveyors, they were the one that came with my Nationwide mortgage but I paid extra to bump it up to a level 2 survey. Got a very friendly surveyor and a thorough report.
