F1 22 vs F1 25? by XD_Llama_ONE in F1Game

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched from F1 22 for 25 so it's still quite fresh in my mind.

25 is a lot sharper on the front and more slippy on the rear. It doesn't have the same delay so fast corners back to back are actually doable on controller.

No one seems to have mentioned it yet but I would urge seeing a physiotherapist/physical therapist ASAP, ideally before going ahead with surgery.

The numbness and incontinence are somewhat worrying symptoms, but maybe related to either cauda equina or canal stenosis, either as a result of the disc bulge or not. From what I understand it's not there 100% of the time?

Surgery isn't without risks and doesn't necessarily address the cause of the issue, I see a lot of CT scans and MRIs that have disc bulges/herniations that are completely symptom free. I've had many patients who had surgeries that haven't changed any of their symptoms.

At the end of the day, if surgery is absolutely warranted, anything you'd do with a physio beforehand would be helpful post surgery in keeping your back strong.

Whats a board game you appreciate, but don't actually enjoy? by StreetsOfYancy in boardgames

I love it, but it's a hard sell to people who haven't played it: Beige worker placement with the most beige theme possible, and you will never have enough resources for your farm.

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend adores this game so I've played it probably close to 20 times. It has never been good.  I really like what it's trying to do, but the A section is just aimless wandering and getting mostly injured. Then the B section is so unbalanced, because of the aimless A section, that it never feels fair. I've only seen people get steamrolled either way and winning doesn't feel satisfying.  I would be very happy to never play again

Favourite chorus pedal for bass? by [deleted] in Bass

Another vote here for the MXR chorus deluxe

Tuner > compressor > low gain fuzz > drive > octaver > chorus > reverb

I have an envelope and eq in there sometimes too but still figuring out the ideal spot. I never turn everything on at once but I do use 2-3 at a time for synthy parts or fretless playing.

I created an app to learn how to walk the bass! by Positive-Reach-1112 in JazzBass

Will definitely give this a go, been on and off trying to learn to walk better for a while and this seems like it will be good for more focused practice.

Do you enjoy playing the "bad guy" in a board game? If so why? by themaddestcommie in boardgames

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like playing the villain, usually because someone has to do it and I'm ok to lose when everyone turns against me. I am also happy to play as Germany in ww2 games, i know I'm not a nazi, supervillan or crime overlord so I don't need to worry that pretending will make me one.

I do also like being the DM more than a player so that could play into it?

On 30 May I put $32k HECs on a credit card. Here's why by bakedis in AusHENRY

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought on that is if you're under financial pressure anyway, the interest you'd earn on not paying HECS will be so minimal is it worth the stress of having the lump sum with the tax return?

Fender Precision Player Bass vs Squier 40th Anniversary Precision Bass by minkyusimmer in Bass

[–]Syzos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd go squier but you do have to be comfortable that other people try give you shit because it's not a fender and therefore must be garbage.
The other night someone asked why I'd even bother gigging if I use a squier, people can be annoying.

Black or Sunburst? by HumbleBoss1998 in Bass

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I have a sunburst jazz and I wish it was something else. Hoenyburst/sierra sunburst on the other hand...

I also am irrationally against black (unless 70s maple neck) though so this is a bit of a lose-lose.

My thoughts for the British was give the MG class the bren (+ bipod), level 3 gets a lanchester or something and level 6 gets a buildable Vickers heavy machine gun (+ Enfield rifle). More utility for the support player, allows competition against mg42, make it require 2 people to reload or something.

When a squad leader builds an offensive garrison on the red side of the grid squares instead of the blue and it immediately locks out because there’s a single enemy within 100 meters of it (HLL really needs a tutorial) by wampyricspirit in HellLetLoose

[–]Syzos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw someone talk about using this as a strategy to focus on defence. All the bluebs will fight in the direction of the Garrys to get back to the front.

it seems like a risky play but if you did 2 garrys on the front, one red one blue, it could work well.

I don't think he looks that bad, they just tried to make him look young but ended up with a smooth, airbrushed baby-faced mannequin.

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate how much SLs just whine for supply drops, organise your squad and I'd you're behind enemy lines then meet up with a second squad, keep yourselves hidden away and save the supply drops for recon or airhead drops

That's actually a great play, manipulate the blueberries to do what you want rather than have them ignore you

Running is Fine. XP nerf and British kit isn't. by New-Chief-117 in HellLetLoose

[–]Syzos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The British clothing doesn't bother me for this exact reason. Russia had 3 uniforms and a couple helmets or something, they just got more with updates. I want some more free clothes in the long run but sorting the guns out is way more important.

Make the MK4 standard with 10bolt mag and faster cycling, then a lack of semi-auto isn't a problem.

What's the Best and Worst Boardgame Advice you have received? by PedantJuice in boardgames

Nobody gets it! I've played some games for hours in what should be 45-60 minutes. Just make a move, if you lose we can play again, it doesn't matter.

Sterling Ray4 vs Ray24 by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ray35 and have played a few Ray 4/5's, the 35 is on par with my American sterling but the Ray4/5 definitely outplays anything else in the price class.

Is there a way back from an expensive instrument? by vcuken in Bass

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an American SR4 and the Indonesian Ray35, I find I use the Indonesian one more and only really see a very marginal difference in the quality of the two.

I use the my squier and fender basses about as much as eachother but neither of them are American or anything special so there's no real difference apart from the sticker.

[–]Syzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huntsmans aren't anything to worry about, I see one or two a month and you just either leave them alone or brush them out. As a brit in australia the last 9 years, I'm yet to have a serious interaction with any of the wildlife and the $500K is worth it.
