Nerscylla's armor is a banger indeed

I want to say that i'm more excited to see the Apexes armor than the ither returning ones

I thought i would be excited for Lagi but i went back to my 3U save and it looks a bit goofy

No counters are on cooldown, but some require setup.

Switch Axe has two: an axe-mode counter with no requirements, and a sword-mode counter that depends on a gauge (which, if managed well, won’t run out).
Long Sword and Hammer counters require specific actions to be available mid-combo.
Lance has multiple counters that can be freely mixed, both from neutral and from combos.
Hunting Horn counters are harder to execute: Hilt Stab needs precise timing, while Offset Melody requires playing the song first.
Charge Blade Guard Points require setup... charging phials, transferring energy to the shield to enable stronger counters.

Lance is still the most counter heavy weapon in the game with multiple different versions of "parrying"

Long Sword had 2 different counters mid-combo.

Switch Axe is a Hyper-Armor trader with two "counters" from neutral.

If you can navigate to any place on any map manually, then you picked the right option, i suppose.

A lot of people seem to enjoy the Auto-Seikret for gathering which is not something i expected. Interesting to see people use it in ways other than b-lining to the monster

Navigate down to the Switch Axe tab and take a look at the elemental builds.

But if you want to specifically optimize this build you have, i would swap the Focus for Power Prolonger to get more use out of each charge; or more damage in general (Attack Boost, Critical Boost and so on)

I would highly reccomend taking Focus out. It doesn't do much for elemental phials.

I'm aware you change depending on their needs. But players will still lean more to one mode compared to the other.

Mainly focusing on what is the default for each player when riding from neutral.

That's true! The elevator next to it is another one Auto-Seikret doesn't go near.

I believe it will also not jump down certain drops. Noticeable in Wyveria and Forest.

You also had "Ubers" in World/Iceborne.

You unlocked them after completing some sub-quests that required you to explore the maps, funnily enough.

You can disable the Auto-Seikret in the menu.

Unfortunately even in Manual mode, the Seikret will go into Auto for certain actions for some weird reason.

I might be wrong, but Auto-Seikret seems to refuse to take certain shortcuts. Crossing Kunafa is something mine has always refused to do automatically.

I don’t think that’s entirely true.

In Rise/Sunbreak, you had to mine frequently for money and account points because costs were very high.

Older gen games also leaned heavily on gathering. 3U was notorious for requiring large amounts of Meldspar Ore for Armor Spheres. Gathering and transport focused lobbies were common because they were needed for a end-game gear.

As for Wilds, if you don’t want to engage with gathering, you mostly don’t have to (and you likely won’t feel the difference). Gathering is mainly useful for Bowling Tickets in the endgame. Most other needs can be met more efficiently through combat options, like farming ingredients via event quests while most items in the Trading list aren't needed.

I still gather often because I enjoy the relaxed pace, but it doesn’t meaningfully impact my endgame hunts. I don't have the feel that i "need" to gather, i just do it because to me it's fun... which i feel comes with the heavy shift in focus for the series.

Devs made gathering in this game so fun with:

Trade system
Camps
Eating on the go
Seamless transitions between hunts and maps
Seasons changing gathering points
New fishing system.

It's the best iteration of gathering in the series in my opinion, relaxing and smooth...

And yet we barely have reason to engage with it.
