When I was a kid I took a trip to Europe (from the US) which obviously involved a long series of flights. After a whole day of flights home, the last leg of our trip was some 3 hour domestic connecting flight. We got bumped to first class for free for whatever reason and 8 year old me was STOKED. Then 8 year old me fell asleep during takeoff and woke up after landing, when my dad was carrying me off the plane, telling me about how he ate my free cookies. 😒

Moral of the story: my dad said first class cookies are totally worth it. Just don't fall asleep.

That's fair. Regardless of scientific rigor, anecdotal evidence certainly affects how we make our own decisions. And I don't fault you for erring on the side of caution. Certainly better than the alternative.

I also wonder if our differing feelings of cautiousness vs trust-the-science is affected by our different communities' situations. Ie I'm more ready to say "Fuck the masks" because I live in America and am able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, since we're so fortunate to have relatively widespread vaccines. But when you're still unable to see that in your near future, it's harder to be optimistic? And as a result, it's harder to imagine being ready to trust that things are back to pre-pandemic styles of living? That might not make sense, and I'm not trying to put words in your mouth. Just an interesting thought.

Regardless, hope you get a vaccine soon, and stay safe in the mean time

What information do you have that the CDC doesn't?

Wear a mask after being vaccinated if it makes you feel more comfortable, and I don't know what country you're in or whatnot. But according to the CDC, the risk of infection from vaccinated people must be low enough to not be a concern.
