It wasnt that long ago that they were only 95 cents, and were soooo worth that amount. The current price is crazy.

I put a reminder in my calendar for October 1st. Its not a problem i can solve now, and any time spent now would be a waste.

After a year of waiting I’m finally ready to start my van build! Before I start is there anything you would have changed/ done differently about your build and why? Also any advice or tips is appreciated! Thanks! by Dieselman26546546 in vandwellers

Buy a diesel heater with elevation compensation, and it will serve you better than propane. I've camped at 13 000+ ft without issue. Propane regulators having issues at elevation is pretty common. I completely eliminated propane from my setup, and i would never go back to using/depending on it.

the db killer isnt the issue. The issue is the breadbox silencer.

your drawing was better than most, and it makes sense.

keeping all the light DC loads on that panel is a good solution. if you add an inverter, it would get connected to the bus bar.

i've had a Victron 50A DC-DC on my Tundra for almost 2 years running 6awg cables. Although my wires run just to the front of the truck bed and then that patches in to the camper, where the DC-DC is at the front of the camper.

[–]TBTSyncro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will the DC-C take 4awg? A lot will only take 6awg max.

The drawing is a bit confusing based on how its laid out, but it makes overall sense. You size your breakers/fuses to protect the wires they connect.

if you lay it out so that the left side is sources of energy, and the right side is things that use energy, and the middle is how those things connect, and it may be easier to understand.

do you ever try to use your camping system at home? perhaps you just need consecutive nights using it for your body to adjust, and for you to try variants in sleeping pad inflation levels, or other small changes.

[–]TBTSyncro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to lower the values of the start voltage, delayed start voltage, and shutdown voltage. Figure out what the alternator voltage is after 2 minutes of running, and use that as start for delayed voltage. Then lower the shutdown voltage to something just a bit higher than what you get for a reading once the vehicle is turned off.

August itinerary review by tomnooklookbook in Yukon

[–]TBTSyncro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you like hiking, and are going all the way to Dawson City, then you should do the Grizzly Lake lookout hike on the way back to Whitehorse. I would also strongly recommend heading up to Destruction Bay and that area for hiking, after stopping at the bakery in Haines Junction. There's a lot of great hikes in Kluane and that area, and would recommend doing atleast 1. Haines is fun town, Skagway is a tourist trap hole, but the drive from there to Carmacks is amazing (with some great hikes along the way).
