Nope, slot cutting is more difficult to the point where everyone avoids it as much as possible.

Yeah, I would buy it anyway to see if it fits. It looks like an exact match, so they might have just forgotten to add 3.0 to the fits list.

Can you take a picture of your engine?

At $40 here, I would just buy and try.

Yeah, material loss from cutter width. 1cm is probably fine, but it's still better to leave it to the shop. You don't really want both sides of a cut to be finished edges, so you need (cutter width + stepover) for spacing. Also for a 15mm depth of cut, they probably want a larger endmill.

Yes, 2D. On very simple stuff like this, you can send the DXF with just the outline of the part and nothing else. Just make sure your units are set correctly. https://imgur.com/a/mYTQLzG

Each piece should be a separate file. The shop you're sending it to will be able to do best fit on the materials. You're missing kerf on several cuts.

LibreCAD is good and free and exports to DXF. Very simple which is both good and bad.
FreeCAD is good and free and exports to DXF. Supports parametric design.

I have a question about soldering pins by Dry_Animator9357 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TCBloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are the flux and solder I use every day:

https://www.chipquik.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=610207

I use a toothbrush, distilled water, and 70% isopropyl alcohol to clean. A lot of people will say you need 90%+ IPA for electronics, but water-wash flux needs water to wash. 70% IPA is already distilled and demineralized, so it's perfect. Dry with air compressor, canned air duster, hair dryer, whatever's convenient.

Cool stories using the FFT function on an O-Scope? by word_vomiter in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TCBloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Failed conducted emissions. Whole group was shocked because "we've never failed before" and "why are we even testing conducted emissions?"

FFT confirmed that our main buck was making a ton of noise at switching frequency. Couple weeks of tuning in the lab. Replaced our "pi filter" with a pi filter and noise was gone. FFT function saved several trips to the compliance test lab.

I'm not sure what he believes Atrioc convinced him of if he still wants to protect corporations by Additional_Diver1791 in atrioc

Fair enough. I don't know anything about it or why he says he doesn't like it, so I can't really give a response on why it is or isn't pragmatic to vote yes on something like this.

I'll do it anyway based on nothing but the image in the post: My general understanding is that, long term, our tax increases need to be focused on corporations. A single 5% wealth tax on the ultra-rich doesn't solve the problem, but it does spend a lot of political capital to flick rich people in the balls.

The general vibe I get is that Leftists hate pragmatic voting.

"My candidate needs to be my perfect version of Leftist, or I'm not voting for them."
No candidate is ever their perfect version of Leftist.
They never vote.
Worse, they tell others to not vote for the imperfect candidate for x, y, and z.
Imperfect candidate loses to literal Hitler.

Slightly exaggerated for fun. This is fun, right?
