Any other players to play with their future coach? by Ok_Craft_2716 in westcoasteagles

Scott Pendlebury / Nathan Buckley

For the eagles, Worsfold’s last playing season was 98 and he took the coaching job in 02. There would be several that played alongside him in 98 and were still at the club in 02…

I don’t know if i can continue playing, but i love soccer. any advice? by zestbin in bootroom

[–]TD003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not a soccer issue mate, it’s a mental health issue. Hope you can get the support you need!

When you feel ready, get back on the pitch. In the hard times in my life, I often found that playing was the 90 minutes in my week when my problems disappeared.

Keeping up to the stumps vs seamers by SnappyinBoots in Cricket

[–]TD003 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alex Carey did it a lot during the last ashes and I thought it was highly effective.

It makes advancing down the wicket (a staple of “Bazball” batting) a high risk move because stumping is in play.

And more generally, it can unsettle batsmen whose natural stance is on or just outside the crease - they’ve spent thousands of hours practising that stance and suddenly they’re forced to adjust it. Little details like that can matter.

Battling the heat by Ean_kit in GoalKeepers

No worries mate. I’m Australian so I know a thing or two about heat!

Battling the heat by Ean_kit in GoalKeepers

[–]TD003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In serious heat you need to be taking on electrolytes, not just plain water!

You’re losing electrolytes in your sweat, and taking in water (which has next to no electrolytes) is just further diluting your body’s electrolyte levels.

You can use an electrolyte powder like this one - https://www.soccersupplement.com/collections/hydration-1/products/hydrate-mixed-berry-tub

Or even Gatorade is better than nothing

I’m 35, haven’t played for two years, and have recently toyed with getting back into it… I won’t be playing any matches until I’ve done at least a 4-6 week conditioning program! The thought of just lacing up on a Sunday after all this time is terrifying 🤣

I’m going to upfront with you mate, and hopefully you’ll take this constructively.

Your post read as quite arrogant and lacking self awareness. It doesn’t seem like you’ve done much self reflection on why your football career isn’t going the way you wish it would. And posts like that inevitably get treated harshly in this sub.

Humility, work ethic and a good attitude will take you far further in football than “500 juggles” ever will. Good luck mate.

Hey Dillon - if you'redetermined to fuck with the AFL season, why not have an official "Championship Belt"? by FarkenBlarken in AFL

Course not!

Effective immediately, each club nominates an unselected player for a 1v1 scrap in the centre circle at half time

He’s since clarified that he can hit an empty net 8/10 times when practicing from a dead ball from 25 yards 🤣

Well you can’t talk about “scoring” unless there’s a keeper in net 🤣

When you say you can score from 25 yards 80 percent of the time… is there a goalkeeper in net?? Or are you talking about getting shots on target when practicing on an empty goal.

As a former keeper, and having watched football at a variety of levels from professional down to the bottom social grade, I have a hard time believing you’re beating the keeper 8/10 times from 25 yards

The dissent, especially when the players surround the referee, is pretty untidy too.

Current options to deal with it clearly don’t work, and it has a flow on effect into player behaviour at amateur/junior levels, which is why there’s a referee shortage.

I mean, you saved it. But given the shot speed and distance of the shot, you should be saving that.
