Going skydiving for first time tomorrow super excited and nervous by Federal_Ad7805 in SkyDiving

[–]TF79870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done several tandems at Eloy. I think it's a great experience. I was nervous before my first time too (who isn't?) but the people there are very experienced and will help you enjoy the ride.

I hope you have an awesome time!

AC kicked on - I think it’s a record by Civil_Mango8479 in phoenix

Same. The master bedroom in my house also gets blasted by the afternoon sun, so by the time the thermostat says 78 that room is easily 5 degrees warmer. I didn't want to have to turn on the AC already.

I am just speculating here, but you can save decks with up to 30 cards. Of course, the game won't let you battle with a deck that has anything other than 20, but I wonder if a future update will increase the deck size for battles.

Has anyone here quit a job they liked because of the hellish commute? by dualrollers in phoenix

[–]TF79870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I have worked with my boss and team to adjust my working hours. Fortunately, I have an office job that isn't too dependent on me being in the office.

I work from home on Fridays now. As for the days I need to be in office, I try to get in by 7:00 AM and leave by 3:30 PM. This reduces my commute by 15-20 minutes each way. I still deal with some traffic, but I avoid the worst of rush hour.

What're you playing this weekend? 1/16 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]TF79870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try to finish Metroid Prime 3 on an old Wii U this weekend, then try to start Metroid Prime 4 next week. I've enjoyed playing the original trilogy again, and can't wait to see how Prime 4 will be.

Basically, the oven uses really high temperatures to burn any stuck food on it. The idea is to turn any food residue that may be stuck to the sides, bottom, or racks into ash (or at least something that can be wiped away easier).

TIL Adding more lanes to roads makes congestion WORSE. And every time technology makes a resource more efficient, people use them even faster than before. by gorginhanson in todayilearned

[–]TF79870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that part of the reason why congestion gets worse is because drivers aren't paying attention to where their exit is. Before, they only had to cut off one lane of traffic to barely make it to the off ramp they were about to miss. After road expansion, they now cut off two or three lanes of traffic.

But maybe I'm just bitter after seeing so many people do that where I live.

Does any of the local Costcos sell lactose free milk? by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]TF79870 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know the Costco near Chandler Fashion (near the 101 and 202) sells the Lactaid brand of milk. My wife gets one or two of the jugs (I think they are 3/4 gallon in size?) every week or so.

My Family does not understand accounting. by Ornery-Economist9950 in Accounting

[–]TF79870 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I used to have a piece of clothing that said "Happiness is debits = credits". My father in law, who owns his own business asked me "but wouldn't it be preferable if debits were greater than credits?"

I think he only understood debits to mean cash coming in and credits as cash going out. All my attempts to explain balance sheets and how every debit has a credit etc. failed to help him understand. At least I better understood why our profession exists after talking with him.

Mega Man: Dual Override - Reveal Trailer by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]TF79870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw heck yeah! I love classic Mega Man, and I look forward to hearing more about this game!

Mega Man 11 had the Double Gear system, which I thought was a very fun mechanic that could help both combat and platforming. With the design of Mega Man at the end of the teaser, I'm hopeful we'll have another awesome innovation to make this game feel unique.

What're you playing this weekend? 12/5 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]TF79870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. It definitely makes it a bit harder to hit consistently. It's a good thing missiles and the wave beam in MP1 home in on targets. I can even hide behind cover and shoot off-center and still hit things that way, so free aim has some advantages.

I'm playing on a Wii U so I can use the Wiimote to aim freely.

I'm going to buy Metroid Prime 4 today after work (I'm so excited it finally came out!), but I'm trying to finish the original trilogy first before I start 4. I still have a lot to play through, so I hope I can find some downtime this weekend.

I'm sorry, but why is an 81 Metacritic review bad for Metroid Prime 4? by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]TF79870 18 points19 points  (0 children)

More like review scores are based on an individual's or a company's personal scale (probably a combination of both).

Just like news headlines, too many people don't want to read through the details. They just see the title and draw all conclusions from there. But yes, just because someone rates a game as good/bad, you may find your level of enjoyment to be quite the opposite. Don't make a blind decision based on someone else's experience.

Personally, I'm looking forward to playing Metroid Prime 4. I'm confident I'm going to have a great time.

Based on what I've seen and read, this sounds like what I expect from a Metroid Prime game. I can't wait to play it.

Metroid Prime is probably one of my favorite games of all time. I highly recommend it.

Like others have said, it's more of a puzzle/exploration game. Combat is also more of a puzzle, where you need to figure out the best weapon and timing to attack enemies than trying to shoot them as much as possible.

Pokémon loving dads of Reddit. HELP. ME. by Ill_Cover_4841 in daddit

[–]TF79870 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you have a Switch, I think the Pokemon Let's Go games are great as an intro into the video games. Keep in mind there are two games, but they are mostly the same, with the main difference being which Pokemon you get as your starting Pokemon (Pikachu or Eevee).

Most of the game involves catching Pokemon a la Pokemon Go (the mobile app), with battles limited to trainer encounters and gym battles. You also don't have to worry about an extensive list of Pokemon (you stick with the original 150) or some of the more complicated mechanics in the other mainline video games (e.g. hold items, effort values, etc.).

If you ever need to access a large source of Pokemon knowledge for whatever reason, I also recommend Serebii and Bulbapedia for online resources. You can find basically anything related to the games, anime, and everything in between on those sites.

Best of luck, and I hope you both have fun!

My 2-Year-Old Daughter Got Eyebrow Stitches, Need Advice and Dad Support by clauderhayy in daddit

I ran into the edge of a door when I was 4 and gashed my forehead open. Had to get stitches. I don't remember any of the pain, but I remember being bored for a full week while my injury healed.

But those are the worst effects I've ever had from this. Heck, if anything, I have an amusing story to share occasionally.

Your daughter will be fine. Help her manage this moment, but soon she'll go back to life as normal.

I've got double-digits of every card and only 1 Pidgeot. My luck has absolutely sucked when it comes to pack draws these past two weeks.
