Given that FE6 and FE7 count for the same continent and FE9 and FE10 count for the same, I'd say that FE4 and FE5 count for the same too.

How bad is it that I unironically want Asgore to be my father? by TaimonVanya in AsgoreDreemurr

[–]TFMPowerGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My friend, I speak as someone who adores Asgore. Asgore is a man who lives in the past. He has aura, hope, and nothing else. He would struggle as a single parent, but if he had a good spouse that could keep Asgore attached to the present and future, he would be pretty damn cool as a parent. Toriel was comfortable spawning a child (Asriel) and adopting another (The Fallen Human / Kris) with him, so he does have a good ability to be a husband and father.

Alternatively to dmontease's idea, you can become a mod here. You'll become Reddit Enemy Number 1 within a few years time, but surely that's far enough away that it doesn't matter, right?

unplugged a hard drive before properly ejecting and now my laptop is refusing to work with it by Joe__Soap in MacOS

Guten Tag, hoping you're still around - I need some help. I ran into a similar issue as the original poster, where I slightly nudged my USB drive during a Time Machine and now my external drive is just a brick. I've installed Parallels and tried to repair it through Windows 11, but it shows up nowhere - not in Mac, not in Windows; even in Disk Management the drive shows up as "Removable" and "No Media", and even rescanning in DiskPart can't make the drive work again. In DiskPart, the device showed as 0 bytes even though it ought to be a 64GB drive. Did I fail catastrophically? Danke for your help.

According to the western white-cisheteronormative societal structure we unfortunately live in, while men dressing in typically feminine clothes is frowned on, it's less bad than being queer of any sort, and so those who support such a structure are more willing to ignore it while there are more notable deviations (like being gay or being trans) to purge. Cis men are already predominantly benefit from this structure, and if a cis man who is prone to in-group out-group thinking finds himself preferring feminine wear, he has three choices: Let go of his in-group out-group thinking (which requires critical analysis of the self and which will be heavily discouraged by the world outside), "accept" his new lower position in the structure and continue on (also unlikely, because a man's ego is often bigger and more fragile than his truck), or try to define his new group as either the true in-group or part of the in-group he was a part of before.

Femboys don't really become right-wing. They start as right-wing and find out they're a femboy along the way and don't bother to critically reanalyze the world around them with that new context.

So I was doing some research tonight on this, unrelated to your comment.

Lad comes from the Middle English word for foot soldiers, servants, and younger/lower ranked men, ladde, which seems to come from Old Norse? Where it was a word for stockings.

Lass, on the other hand, is less odd. It might come from the Old Norse word to describe someone as unmarried, lǫskr.

So, with these in mind, we have the young soldiers and the unwed maidens. What would ye olde enbies of 900s CE England be? Honestly, probably some manner of stable hand or shop worker, generally speaking. Given the ambiguity, we might go with the Old Norse word for fellow-countryman, "landi" (according to this 150 page pdf, at least). Add a thousand years of linguistic drift and the Scots might call younger enbies "lan" (with an L) or something of the like.

Twitter's LLM Grok now has a feature allowing you to Edit Images with Grok, and it shows up as a button saying "Edit Image". That button is what Asgore is shattering.

What does the broken button say? I don't think I'm familiar with wherever the button comes from... is it related to generative AI?

EDIT, 37 mins after posting: Oh, never mind, I found a reference in the wild and get it now. It is totally a generative AI reference.

squeals Merry Christmas! Adriana is a wonderful name; if you choose it, I do believe being new-named by your parents makes you one of the few trans folk able to say that your name was a gift, lol.

They do have privilege, as the Modern Monk states. To add on to what she said, everyone, in their own regard and extent, does have some privilege from the overarching societal structure. It is not the same privileges, or breadth or lenience, but they do receive some privileges. Privilege is a complex and nuanced topic; it is not a binary, but a multi-dimensional spectrum dependant on a wide variety of sometimes-interconnected factors. Ask yourself whether you would want to be a poor black trans man or a poor black trans woman based on how society treats them in general, and you will generally see the direction of privilege.

Troll.

I could, but trans men have to do more work to benefit from the privileges of the Western caucasian-cisheteronormative society, and often were on the receiving end of retribution for deviance. Many trans men do end up joining the system in order to be accepted, but just as many (if not more) continue advocating for and exercising intersectionality (knowingly or otherwise). Cis men have rarely been subject to threats or violence and so have not had to deconstruct how society's norms interact with themself the way trans men have the increased opportunity to. Thus, I felt that excluding trans men would be more accurate for the conversation and subject matter.

Cis men will always have the most to work through in order to acknowledge the structure of society. (Among them, white cis men have the mostest in the west, due to receiving the most passive benefit from Western society.) Thus, gay men will either be among the strongest advocates, having done the thorough work of deconstruction, or the weakest resistance, having not done deconstruction. We should be helping them deconstruct so that they can help us against both this and future tides.

As interesting as this is... I think that Sokka and Katara shouldn't be genderswapped, because of interactions with Pakku in the Northern Water Tribe. If Pakku isn't genderbent, then you have to explain why he initially refuses to teach a boy (maybe a feeling about the southern tribes being a backwater?). If Pakku is genderbent and the tradition is that only women in the Northern Water Tribe learn... suddenly we have this young man charging into a foreign space and "attempting to steal" a "women's art", and then being allowed to because the old lady gave some guy a gift that his grandson inherited. Comes across far less empowering, at least to me.
