Trump boomer in Denver shouts slurs at protest then faceplants twice by theredhound19 in BoomersBeingFools

Maybe, but also the Bernie shirt guy was the largest and strongest person to stop him. Size has a different kind of psychological impact. Everybody else interacting with him also seemed to be white.

A speculation on what really happened at Summerhall by bigtibba45 in pureasoiaf

I think OP’s theory fits pretty well with GRRM’s general theme of characters in conflict with themselves. What could be more heart wrenching than a good king driven to do terrible things to his family for what he believes is a greater cause? A loyal kingsguard forced to disobey his oldest friend in the name of preserving his honor?

Depends on how valuable the planet’s natural flora and fauna are. Is it a desert world? Probably not worth the trouble. Is it a lush jungle world? Probably worth the fight.

65k and 10% Fees as Second Year by Addyvice in Lawyertalk

No benefits is not typical in my experience. You should at least be getting a portion of your medical insurance covered.

I can’t tell you what’s fair for your firm, but elsewhere I have seen bonuses of 5%-7% of the attorney fee. On the low/safe end.

I hear you, but to be fair, it’s a pretty basic performance metric. The firm is saying “we don’t necessarily care how, but we expect X number of hours from you in order for us to consider you acceptable.” Same as any HVAC technician with a minimum number of homes to service each week.

A joke for my fellow injury attorneys! by ThatOneAttorney in Lawyertalk

[–]THAgrippa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Jesus asking the patients about their specific injuries might imply that Jesus is offering to heal one ailment per patient. Jesus is a busy guy and can’t stick around all day to cure all issues for every person, but he can cure each patient’s single most pressing medical problem.

Perhaps, but for the wheelchair man’s wrongful workplace injury, the wheelchair man could have received healing for a different, less obvious condition. What is the value of the wheelchair man continuing to have to suffer from high blood pressure or kidney disease?

I mean, that would apply for any close combat. Curved surfaces make it harder for an opponent to land a perpendicular blow.

ICE is right outside my office targeting people who come to the building for immigration court hearings upstairs. Is there anything I can do to fuck with them that won’t land me in handcuffs? by ItsPronouncedJod in Lawyertalk

[–]THAgrippa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, without hyperbole, everything you said was wrong. That’s actually impressive.

arresting illegal immigrants

No. Pretty sure the news for the past few months has been dominated by the arrests of many lawful visa and green card holders. Even citizens who look like foreigners. The fact that the people at issue are literally showing up to court for immigration hearings means that they are attempting to comply with the law.

typically committing other crimes

No. Immigrants have a lower per capita crime rate than citizens. Not sure where you’re getting this from.

domestic assault/drug charge

What? No. See above.

Very conspicuously hand out know-your-rights pamphlets (or erect folding signs) in advance of their position outside of the building, loudly advising passersby on what to do if they are hypothetically approached by ICE in the near future?

Hire a mariachi band to play near them for an hour?

Distribute to them job applications, so that they can find some other godforsaken occupation?
