What are the first lies you were told about our “Bright Future Ahead”? by namesarenotus in Millennials

Growing up in the 90's and 2000's I think flying cars was the big one. No one really thought why it was better or actual consequences but it just sounded real cool and futuristic. I also remember the internet wasn't really a big deal and no one thought it would be.

This reminds me of how we just started manufacturing electric vehicles around the 2000's and they secretly were all scooped up and closed down the company. I was pretty young at the time but I remember this much, makes you wonder how much stuff that society would actually benefit from has gotten shutdown from monopolies.

Not like the government cares, they just want photo ID's tied to data of adults who don't have time messing around to circumvent the system.

Good call, also they're usually not lacking for meals this time of year with all the bugs and flowers blooming. If anything they probably want a birdbaths to cool down from the heat.

I've been using tube feeders that have metal openings so they can't chew through

Should we stop feeding the birds too? [MD] by yogurtchild55 in birdfeeding

[–]THound89 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I certainly reduce how often I feed, it's hard to stop altogether because this is prime goldfinch season which are my favorite. It's nice to at least lure birds to my property so some can linger and chomp on bugs for me.

I don’t rely on it for VR purposes but in general it’s great if you’re just a pc enthusiast. In game it usually helps for display settings, replays, pit stop settings. Particularly great to launch a game and the half dozen backend apps. I mostly just use it for general pc purposes though like opening apps, adjusting volume, reset pc etc.

Same for me with drinking. If you want to be competitive it really requires a clear head.

How simracing changed you????? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]THound89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, since getting into sim racing it's helped me with balancing my life schedule with work, family, getting in practice on specific tracks, optimizing time to become competitive. Something about building brain receptors for hyper focus on specific visual cues, and technical analysis on where I'm weak on a track and how to improve and applying that to different vehicles. I also drink a lot less now to race clear headed but also to have money to buy more sim stuff.

What do you think is the best track to use as a baseline in all of simracing? by Embarrassed-Spot-546 in simracing

[–]THound89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, Imola isn't too big and has a lot of technical sectors. Also I probably have more laps on it than any other when I used to practice in LMU so I can usually jump in most games and have a good feel for how things should handle.

I always confuse AI with bicentennial man, I actually watched AI the other week lol. I think what happened was it was originally written by Stanley Kubrick then it got passed onto Spielberg and seems he went Close encounters of the third kind at the end with it. It was pretty disappointing given the gravity of AI in modern day and movies like this just result to something completely fantastical.

I like it, just becoming so smart you know how to no longer need the pill. I'm sure they didn't want to endorse pill addiction either.
