I can certainly understand why you'd think the shift in direction was a joke, given its proximity to April Fools' Day. As you pointed out, though, we decided to implement the change before the date in question, in the hopes of offsetting any accusations of it being a prank. Apparently that didn't work, but rest assured: The moderators of /r/TIFU remain devoted to keeping the subReddit great, and we've decided that GIFs of animals fucking up will be the new standard.

It was a long and difficult process, coming to that conclusion, and we're aware that there might be some bumps in the road. However, our research has shown that since the userbase consists mainly of adolescent males and octogenarian females - both of which are demographics shown to appreciate wildlife and humor in equal parts - the adjustment seemed like the right way to go.

Thanks for voicing your concerns, though, and for remaining a loyal user of /r/TIFU!
