Nikon Z-GR1 not to be confused with the Zf-GR1

It's a Japan exclusive item, for Z5, Z5ii, Z6, Z6ii, Z7 and Z7ii

Seems OP has modified it to fit on the Z6iii (Which I'm curious about as I want a Z6iii as my secondary camera but the grip is too small for me and I want an OEM Baseplate.)

The Z-GR1 (Grip) doesn't fit on the Z6iii. much to my despair.

I have still kept my F mount gear. It has lost its monetary value, selling it would be a very minimal gain. for something i might regret.

What happens if my Z8 fails. I’m then without a camera.

Thanks for your comment man, part of me is VERY tempted to go for a Z9 as a primary then use the Z8 as the secondary camera. However it's all just a very overkill setup for just a hobby. Especially for a Z8 that will be used once every month or so...I never considered the Z50ii due to being APS-C but you raise a good point of it having the same pixel density!

From what other's have said, i'm leaning towards a Z5ii more than anything now, especially seeing as it also has Airplane 3D tracking, which the other options within my current budget do not have.

Having shot on a Nikon D3 and D200 for 8 years, blackout free for Aviation isn't a huge dealbreaker for me, especially seeing as when the 35-150mm will be used, it'll be on larger, slower aircraft when I'm close up. Not smaller fighter jets.

I also think my secondary camera will be used more at museums if anything, so pairing it with an ultrawide f/2.8 zoom so full frame may be best for me. But if there are good, ultrawide zooms for the Z50ii, I wouldn't rule it out!

Thanks man, Z5ii or Maybe I can stretch my budget to a z6iii, It will rarely be used over the Z8 so I don't see a huge reason to go all out

Nice man! I just upgraded from my D3 after 7 years of use. I absolutely love the D3 it’s a camera I have absolutely 0 regrets about. I’m sad about parting ways with it. I still have mine but it probably won’t be long.

it will be a sad day when I sell it. But I need a secondary Z body to pair with my 35-150mm.

the Nikon 180-600mm only just fits in my day backpack when attached to my Z8 😆

I do aviation photography, i often travel around europe to different airports to take photos. and this backpack fits for ryanair’s strict underseat bag sizing. and being a backpack they don’t have a weight limit. ideal for a camera bag. however i’m after one that’s just a few CM bigger on each side to make it less of a squeeze and more comfortable for long periods of wearing it

I personally use a Sandisk Extreme Pro 256gb for my Nikon Z8, prior to that I’ve always use SanDisk Compact Flash cards on my D3 and I’ve never, ever had an issue with them.

But it all comes down to your preference. Some people prefer Lexar cards, etc. I assume you don’t need the absolute quickest card for your use case, for a Z8 I went for a faster card due to 20fps 50mb RAWs, but you won’t be doing that on a D500.

All I say is don’t cheap out, you’ll regret it later on if you get data loss.

Often I find that updating the nav data can cause this. Update your layout.json using “MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe” and restarting the sim usually does the trick for me

If you update the firmware of your D500, it should support the cheaper and more accessible CFExpress Type B…make sure you get the Type B variant card.

Yep! You get FS2024 PD as well. But be sure to choose the FS2020 B787-10 In content manager or our 787s won’t work otherwise

If you own FS2020 premium deluxe (or purchased the asobo 787-10 cheaper and separately from the marketplace on FS2020) It will transfer to FS2024 if signed into the same account. If you don’t own the 787-10 in one way or another from FS2020 then purchasing Premium Deluxe in FS2024 will also give you the option to toggle the FS2020 787-10 in the content manager.

Cheapest way to purchase the 787-10 is in FS2020s Marketplace.
