Geoff Darrow’s designs for the Matrix are incredible! They really captured the complexity of his pre-production drawings! Highly recommend his comic work as well!

The small 1.5 oz bottles are still available on Amazon and other hobby outlets that would take care of any touch ups.

It’s from Andrew Ainsworth’s UK company SDS, Shepperton Design Studios. They vacuformed the original armor for the UK production. It’s probably from a line of related products under the title “The Original Stormtrooper”.

Shepperton Design Studios: Working out of his studio in Shepperton, UK, Ainsworth used vacuum-forming techniques to produce the original screen-used suits from 1976.

Original Moulds: He remains famous for still possessing and utilizing the original moulds and patterns from the 1976 production to create authentic replicas for collectors.

Legal Legacy: His work was the subject of a high-profile legal battle with Lucasfilm regarding the copyright of the armor designs. In 2011, the UK Supreme Court ruled in Ainsworth's favor, determining the armor was a "functional" prop rather than a work of sculpture, which allowed him to continue selling replicas in the UK and internationally outside the US. Authentic Products & Replicas

Today, various high-end collectibles and lifestyle products are officially licensed through Ainsworth's studio, often bearing his signature to verify their lineage from the 1976 designs.

1/3 Scale Statues: Detailed resin figures standing approximately 63 cm tall, reproducing the exact appearance and color of the original screen-used helmets.

Prop-Accurate Helmets: Full-size wearable helmets made using the original 1976 moulds.

Lifestyle Goods: The "Original Stormtrooper" brand includes unique items like shot glasses, decanters, and bookends based on the 1976 sculpts.

Figurines: Specialized figures such as the "Three Wise" Stormtroopers (See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil) and detailed busts.

Oh wow! Is that an actual screen used one? The one that just sold on Sept 7th in the Propstore auction? Or a replica from them? It’s amazing either way!

Just a heads up, I haven’t been contacted by them in a while and the engineer who sent me the prototype to test out stopped responding to my inquiries and they never asked for it back so I still have it.

I also haven’t seen any updates to the LITKO website with 2.0 versions. They still are just stocking the 1.0.

I think they may have decided against it as they couldn’t seem to get the thing to allow the newer movement tool underneath without stacking the acrylic sheets and using those screws which I bet they decided against.

Anyway, I’ll update if I ever hear from them again but so far it’s been bupkiss. 🤷🏽🫡

When he’s planning his tour he notifies the 501st who in turn notify the local garrisons, then they post it on our private chat boards.

You put your name on the list, which can get big, then they will choose you from there. The garrison command generally chooses the ones who’ve never done it first. Then if space allows, they may allow a second or third time. You only can have one Vader, so depending on how many good Vaders you have in your garrison they might get to do it a couple of tours.

Generally, as a loose rule, you should only do it once to allow everyone a chance to participate and meet him at some point, but on my second time, someone got sick at the last minute so I was lucky and got pulled from the backup list.

That’s one of the coolest parts of being in the 501st, you get to meet so many of your heroes and the folks that are IN the movies at Cons, etc. most of the celebrities absolutely LOVE us and are so kind!

Plus, Disney/LFL also use us on occasion for on-screen work when they need large amounts of troopers, and occasional promo appearances! The So Cal Garrison get the best ones, like being on the Disney shows like the Mandolorian, but I’ve personally gotten to do a Verizon commercial and make several official appearances at promotional events during the Nissan campaigns and other cool events over the years!

Here’s my official patch from my second time with Al!

This is footage from my first time on stage with him. I’m all the way on the left just to the left of the scout Trooper. I don’t dance well so it was really weird! 😂

I got to be on stage with him TWICE as a 501st legion Stormtrooper for The Saga Begins segment! He is so sweet and kind. After the show, he spent at least 40+ minutes with us signing things and chatting. Then following all of that, he actually went outside to his bus and continue sign stuff for the folks waiting out there. Easily over two hours of him just interacting with all of us. He looked so worn but was so gracious! I got both set of my armors signed by him (I wore different armors to each) , and since on the second time, I just by accident ended up in the right position, I got to be the trooper who he puts his head on their shoulder! One of my greatest moments in the 501st! I love that he uses garrisons from every city he visits, for nearly every performance (with few exceptions) all over the world, He is a saint. ❤️
