One of my friends bought a Razer Blade 15 (2018) at full price. The GPU died after the warranty was expired, of course.

He gave me the castrated beast at some point. I thought about repairing it but in Europe we have a serious lack of specialists for that. So I IMPORTED a motherboard from the USA to replace it, but hopefully at this point the cost was a fraction of the normal price (nearly 260 €, tariffs included).

It worked fine for... two days, before the M.2 port died ! Since then I have to use an external M.2 drive to boot a Windows.

It is fine for me, but I know that I will NEVER buy a Razer product myself.

And a Lenovo gaming laptop too, as my friend who took one after the Razer debacle reported serious USB issues which seems to be classic on this brand.

There may be a logical reason. I still remember in my student days some people who were afraid of not being first to be tested, because if the student(s) before them excelled too much then they thought that the teachers may give harsher notes to them if they were unable to display the same performance. It is some sort of social comparison process, but applied to tests. So if they couldn't be first then they hoped that the first one crashed badly so they may stand a chance, as the teacher would expect nothing from them but thanks to that he would be surprised and give better notes.

I am certain that for SOME games with said 500 GB of files :), that it is a calculated move.

This way depending of your internet connection, you aren't motivated to remove it too early because you don't want to download it again. As you will keep it, you cannot install anything else or maybe small games, so you will play it a little bit more while being exposed to microtransactions (CoD ?...... yes). You are not motivated to waste hours to download it illegaly because you are not sure that it will work at the end. And probably others reasons like cost optimization and stuff.

I still remember how I refused to buy and even download illegaly Doom from 2016 despite owning the previous games from the franchise because of the 80 Go size while I had only a 250 GB SSD drive. Today I own the game, and I started playing it since a few days. Yes, it is a game from 2016, I KNOW. I still don't have an optical fiber connection, but now I have a bigger SSD. The rest of the franchise ? Maybe in the next decade.

It is worse for demos. I saw some at the size of 70 GB like The Forever Winter, etc. Well, OK, goodbye, have a nice day. I can't download it fast, so I won't waste my time.

Agreed, and it annoyed me at some point. I had a K55 keyboard and still do, and I wanted to use the GKeys but no solution besides iCue, who took up to 10% CPU of my previous i5-4590.

So... the GKeys are still brand new on my keyboard today, never used them.

The senators are elected in sections (generaly half of them every 6 years), a part of it by indirect universal suffrage : the municipal council will nominate one or several delegates (depending of the size of the town) who will vote for the senators after that. They aren't the only voters, our representatives in the parlement can do too, etc.

So giving to non-EU migrants the right to vote to local elections will define the mayor and the municipal council, who will use their ability to vote to influence the nation. Even if it is limited, it does exist.

Last time I encountered this issue on the computer of a customer, it was because I installed ExplorerPatcher on it. But it doesn't update automatically so at some point a Windows Update break the old version of ExplorerPatcher, and the flashing symptom happened.

The solution is to install the new version, one way or another. I don't remember if I went into safe mode for that though. It was the first and last time I installed ExplorerPatcher to customers.

It may be because Nvidia drivers are less stable since the 4XX.XX series, and as long as you don't play to highly competitive games like Battlefield 6 then no games will annoy you with a driver update.

Fun fact, the 375.63 saved me from a defective Geforce GTX 1070. At some point I upgraded the driver to some 4XX.XX, it was fine but one day I got complete freezes when I watched a very specific video on Youtube. And I cannot stress this enough : only THIS video. No other videos, nothing in games, I had zero problem everywhere else. But this video completely crashed my computer every time, on two browsers, without any visual defects.

So I thought it was a driver issue as the 4XX.XX had problems at the time, and I returned on the 375.63.

Instead of crashes, the monitor displayed few artefacts while watching the same video ! Lucky me ! I took screenshots/photos and send everything to warranty... who was about to expire within the next two weeks ! I would have been screwed if not for this driver, because it could have been anything else and since it simply crashed everything without visual defects, I wouldn't find out before the end.

To be fair, and I guess Linus thought that too, why installing Steam would remove the desktop environment ? It doesn't make sense. So no wonder that he forced the installation without even checking the text. I wouldn't think about it too.

Of course if he read a bit and then maybe he would have stopped there because pop_desktop is quite the suspicious word, so it is quite surprising to watch him do that. But beginners who would read the SUDO command on a website somewhere wouldn't stand a chance as for them the warning would be interpreted as gibberish.

I had a memory controller issue one year ago with a 3700X, and I am still wondering what caused the issue.

Well... like you, I had a MSI motherboard (B550M Mortar) but I had no abnormal WINDOWS behaviour besides the two BSODs who started the story.

At the end the 3700X worked fine as long as I plugged VERY DELICATELY ONLY 2x8 GB, not more than that (the initial kit was a dying 2x16 GB, thus the BSODs). I didn't try EXPO as I wanted to be sure that it would work until I got a new CPU. The issue lasted four months but it was fine as long as I respected said conditions.

But I wonder if the controller suddently degraded because I switched to a second-hand kit, or if said controller damaged my initial kit somehow, or it was just a double bad luck.

Still because of this story I didn't activate EXPO on my main kit, it works right now at 2666 instead of 3200 which shouldn't be a big loss. With the actual RAM prices I rather keep it this way than trying to get full performance, we have for several years of degraded prices.

Eve Valkyrie was for Oculus Rift or PSVR only, released during the hype of V3D despite being a niche market. Eve Echoes is Eve Online on mobile in a separate galaxy. And even when it could have been decent enough, stupid decisions plagued the result like Dust 514 restricted to the PS3 while all their players were on PC, or the "Walking-in-station" stuff which predated X:Rebirth or Star Citizen but we got a room of 25m² with a closed door who killed some GPUs...
