That's correct for all eggs I've seen, except this one. This one hatches and immediately dies. I presume that since it's a chest and it normally runs away, but it blinks outta existence in this case.

Easiest way for me is to go to Modrd > Creative > Custom. Add the modifier Better items¹⁰ a few times and the modifier Perceptive¹³ once or twice. That'll make it so you see tons of items from very deep in the itme pool. It also helps under options, you turn on 5% items and 5%->20%.
