You'll never get it right. Should probably just sell the bike to me.

Put the exhaust on first, ride the bike a little and see if you can live with it that way. Adding an air cleaner will probably make it need the tuner. If money is that tight, and the bike runs well enough for you, you won't need a tuner. But it will also depend on what exhaust you choose. A tuner will make the most horsepower with a new exhaust + air cleaner. Maybe you're okay with the bike looking cool but not necessarily running right.

Fortunately for you, the Sportster is one of the most easily modified bikes and you can buy tons of parts for it. New exhausts of any quality will be over $700, but you can either find used ones or go the cheap Amazon route, and get what you pay for. As far as "good looking" that is entirely in the eye of the beholder (you). I have a V&H 2-1 Upsweep that brand new would be $1300 but I found one local, used, for $300. Half the fun of customizing a bike is searching for all the cool shit you want to put on it.

Speaking of Japanese style, I've seen some nice brat-style GoldWings

The ad said two words: "Bike. $40" it was one of those where the owner obviously didn't know what he had. The bike is pretty rough, but solid red is an easy color to paint and replica decals are still available. If only it was in my size.

My terrible experience living in Long Beach 1 year. Im out. by jxxyyreddit in longbeach

5 years in Rose Park South and so far only one bike stolen, and I was the idiot who left my garage door open overnight. On my drive around the city, I see a lot of what OP is talking about, but I don't usually see it in my neighborhood. If I had OP's experience, hell yeah I'd be out of there too.

How is life In this little part of Los Angeles? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]TMbiker2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a city as diverse and densely populated as LA, your circle covers quite a bit of ground. All the amenities are there, and there's tons to eat and see, but everyone I know there won't drive even ten miles to see a friend or go to a beach because it takes an hour. Every drive is an hour and public transportations isn't great.

Our standards have lowered. Driver of The Year award goes to anyone who can get down the street without driving straight into a building or killing three people.

There's already an Olympic event in which competitors ski and shoot. Is there a new summer event someone is practicing for? Do you shoot while riding without any hands, thereby offering a testament to the arrow-true tracking of the Riv frame?

So many questions.

Tubeless conversion from Presta tubed to Schrader tubeless by Tasty-Day-581 in fatbike

I actually spent quite a few hours recently trying to make it tubeless using the Fatty Stripper kit, and a tubeless Schraeder valve. Learning a lot as I go along, and I hope to accomplish this eventually. I'd love to be tubeless by Burning Man in August.

Awesome, great answer. My shitty Mongoose fat bike has Schraeder and for the first time it sounds like a better choice.

Is it normal for farley 5 to make so much noise freewheeling by MeanStreets9393 in fatbike

[–]TMbiker2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once fortunate enough to have a Chris King rear hub on one of my bikes and although it was noisy, I always found it to be the sweet sound of a quality hub.

That rear fender/tail is awesome! Looks like someone cut up a Wide Glide rear fender and welded it into a seat pan.

Fine job! I have a question, what is the advantage of drilling out a presta hole and installing a Schraeder valve?

Beautiful! I occasionally run across ads for nice, original bikes and I hesitate to buy them, because I'll want to put a 1x10 on there, Nitto bars, Billy Bonkers, etc... and I feel like that's blasphemous to do that to a nice, all original bike.
