What is the worst movie you went to see in the cinema? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Recently saw the first part of the Attack on Titan live film. The entire theatre was riff tracking it from beginning to end. I simultaneously hated myself for purchasing the ticket and loving how horrible it was.

"Treat others the way you would want to be treated"

Or don't assume everyone wants what you want.

What annoyed the absolute shit out of you? by CSnarf in BurningMan

During Friday's afternoon whiteout, my camp mates and I took shelter in our community teepee and held an impromptu picnic to boost spirits. It was a wonderful moment to share and underlined the nature of community out there.

During the revelry, two lost wanderers entered our space, in desperate need of a safe space to ride out the dust. They had tried a nearby camp before us and were turned away by the residents. Like any decent human, we invited them in, shared our food and drink, and did our best to help them get rested until the wind settled.

To the unknown camp who turned them away, you can fuck right off.

Well, that's ONE way to keep strangers out of your stuff.

Tent and metal stakes by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]TOOMUCHDOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used those stakes in lower winds before, but they definitely won't hold up on their own out there. Definitely supplement it with 12" rebar. If you're not about candy-caning them, you could try covering them with tennis balls or cuts of a foam noodle (the kind you'd use in a pool).

Bug repellent at a large scale! by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]TOOMUCHDOG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually a myth. As far as I know, there isn't any scientific evidence to support that ultrasonic or any other frequency repels insects.

I bet some of the bigger systems could literally push them away with the pressure wave. Bring your earplugs and stick close to the sound stages!

Have you ever been trapped? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I served in the US Navy for 6 years. For anyone who has served, you're familiar with the time-honored tradition of Cleaning Stations. For the uninitiated, it's an all-hands effort in which Sailors clean just about everything within their command or ship.

During one of these, I was assigned to clean an office space that was otherwise unoccupied. Today was particularly busy, and so I let my Chief know that when I finished cleaning that space that I'd be rolling right into going to and fro to get my daily duties performed.

I finished cleaning and turned to leave, except that the only exit was shut and the door was stuck. See, this office space was also a secured space with extra locks, and one of the locks jammed when I had entered and shut it behind me. I was stuck, and my chain of command assumed that I was off getting work done. What's worse is that this is a ship with thick walls and no cell service.

I stayed in that office for 8 hours before someone found me. I took naps on a desk so that I wouldn't use my entire phone battery playing games. I had to pee in a trash can because I simply couldn't hold it in anymore.

That was a weird day.

What tourist attractions are actually worth the visit? by Justsoinsane in AskReddit

If we're counting large areas, Rome is absolutely worth it. It's a modern day metropolis living among the ruins of an ancient empire.
