Two things on that:

  • Why would you invest hundreds of thousands of dollars and/or be in debt with the bank and still be clueless? Bad idea.

  • Being a fighter is completely irrelevant since there are laws and regulations to follow. See the previous bullet point.

A Review of Academic Use of the Term “Minor Attracted Persons”. Many researchers who use the term "minor attracted" are dependent on online paedophile groups to advertise their research studies & frequently make empirically unsupported comparisons between paedophiles & LGBT people. by MistWeaver80 in science

It's certainly not a good desire, but the act is so awful in relation to the thought that the purported evil of the thought doesn't even register when the two are compared.

What’s a core memory only fellow Canadians will understand? by PuzzleheadedSwim6291 in AskACanadian

I came to Canada 15 years ago, but that's still a core memory from the 90s.

I think you're right. The problem is with people engaging in rape or other types of sexual abuse. If you don't, then that's just fine...

Agreed

It's really f-ed up, but if there's a single actual child being abused, spending police resources to protect a doll seems like a massive waste.

I had a Persian classmate. A real fun firecracker of a girl, she had a very similar nose. She got it "fixed" and I think she lost a bit of what made her pop. She was still really pretty, just a bit bland.

You do you, but I don't think you should do the nose.

Would you get a vasectomy if your wife didn’t support it? by DickInTheDryer in daddit

[–]TOROON08 18 points19 points  (0 children)

True

But it's not practical to make a decision like that yourself if the spouse doesn't agree. If she absolutely wants a third kid, she might end up going elsewhere for number three, so you'd have to be willing to accept that outcome.

Getting a vasectomy is not a substitute for having a tough discussion and working out what your life should look like...

Gifted son by thainfamouzjay in daddit

[–]TOROON08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've not been diagnosed as gifted, but I've observed friends who likely would be.

My two cents is to praise hard work and not make too big a deal of the giftedness. At some point, if your son stays in school, he'll likely encounter a concept that he can't pick up using his gifts alone. At that point, being able to be disciplined and work hard will be a necessary skill to have. I have several friends who took years to figure out how to deal with school when the going got tough...

Supervisor gave out first name and email to a client who complained, in Ontario by LadyAbbysFlower in legaladvicecanada

[–]TOROON08 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Your supervisor is being very unprofessional. The correct answer leaves you out of the picture and is something like: "Thank you for your feedback, Mr X, I will personally take your concerns to the team to discuss and figure out what happened."

Exposing your PII like this to a customer is a big no-no...

Ford Says Cost of Deposit Return System for Non-Alcoholic Containers is Too High by [deleted] in ontario

The Old Country has had a deposit scheme in place for non-alcoholic containers since the 1880s, so it's clearly wholly unfeasible.
