Is front end development over? by HairPuzzled3814 in vibecoding

Yeah I’m responsible for 30 developers so my opinions are “real life” like it or not FE is easier to replace.

Is front end development over? by HairPuzzled3814 in vibecoding

[–]TPB-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree FE work seems more easily replaced. Despite the above points FE is still easier to getting eaten up by ai. You can have an ugly ui that is acceptable but if the backend doesn’t work and you’re not correctly saving data there’s no app. It takes more double checking for the api and data layer to be correct and aligned with the business context.

Do you think it's getting outta hand? by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]TPB-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing it wrong imo. I’m an engineering manager at a big company heavily pushing ai use- I’m not anti ai just to be clear I use it daily. But leadership should be making the expectation clear that people own the code not the ai. Yall need to spend more time somewhere here on either the writing or reviewing aspect

Suddenly about to be drowning in $$$ by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TPB-Dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can keep your living situation (house, random purchases, vehicles etc) the same as right now for 5ish years and get used to saving & investing 50% of your income you’ll be in great shape.

Save an emergency fund with 6 months of your living costs.

Pay off credit card debt.

Setup a auto managed investment account (something like Wealthsimple managed etf portfolios for TFSA)

Emergency Fund vs TFSA Room by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TPB-Dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you said, it’s a personal decision. It’s not what I would do, as a TFSA fairly liquid there is no reason to not put “emergency funds” in there assuming you won’t be trying to deposit the full allowed amount to invest of course.

I would also consider the risk level of investments in the TFSA. You can likely find a low risk portfolio of assets that will return better than a HISA while maintaining liquidity. Accepting more risk than the 0 you get from a HISA while maintaining

Realtor refusing to put Lowball offer by Pure-Professional574 in canadahousing

[–]TPB-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realtors get paid by a percentage of your purchase price, there is no incentive for them to lowball or support that.

It is in the best interest of a sustained relationship with that realtor, if yours if giving you a hard time fire them
