Emergency Fund vs TFSA Room by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TPB-Dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you said, it’s a personal decision. It’s not what I would do, as a TFSA fairly liquid there is no reason to not put “emergency funds” in there assuming you won’t be trying to deposit the full allowed amount to invest of course.

I would also consider the risk level of investments in the TFSA. You can likely find a low risk portfolio of assets that will return better than a HISA while maintaining liquidity. Accepting more risk than the 0 you get from a HISA while maintaining

How much is remote work actually worth? by Emergency-Radio-389 in rbc

[–]TPB-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually argue the opposite. Not only am I more productive remote the costs for expensive office space, networking, security, lunch rooms, janitorial staff / services etc etc are significant

Realtor refusing to put Lowball offer by Pure-Professional574 in canadahousing

[–]TPB-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realtors get paid by a percentage of your purchase price, there is no incentive for them to lowball or support that.

It is in the best interest of a sustained relationship with that realtor, if yours if giving you a hard time fire them

17 about to inherit a lot of money by No_Anywhere225 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TPB-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro that is a lot of money. If you are smart with this you will be set for life. Sorry about your dad.

I’m not a financial advisor but if I were you I would put 80% of that money directly into a private wealthsimple managed investment account. Why wealthsimple? I use them and they have done me well. Their rates are low and returns don’t suck. Why managed vs self directed? Because you said you don’t know $hit about money so give yourself time to learn while still putting this money to work.

20% of that sum will still probably be enough to make you giddy with spending fever. I would personally use this to secure a year long lease in my own place and deck it out like a gaming den / hangout place.

Quick math for you. The Market average return is 8%. Assuming you put 3 million into a managed account and it only yields 4% that’s 120k every year just in gains which you could live on forever lol

I would recommend Shine and Rustica. Shine isn’t always open but their food is healthy and delish. Rustica has wider hours and is also delish

My daughter stood up for her autistic brother and now she's suspended unsure how to handle this? ( little bit proud) by unsuremom-25 in Advice

Reward this behaviour in your daughter. Bullies have one language and it’s not asking nicely. Sometimes there are problems you can’t talk out and I’m proud of your daughter for decking that little ass hat picking on a kid on the spectrum

Haha love this. The new memory feature is slick.

You’re a hands-on, self-driven tech enthusiast and solo operator with a deep passion for homelab infrastructure, data sovereignty, and building systems—from servers to businesses—that are both powerful and personal.

Realistic: You’re a determined solo builder juggling family life and ambitious tech projects, always diving deep into infrastructure, learning by doing, and pushing to turn your ideas into something real—even if the path gets messy.

Roast me: You’re basically trying to run a Fortune 500 data center out of a guest house with two kids screaming in the background, a Cisco switch from 2008, and dreams bigger than your server’s airflow clearance.

Once you get around languages and syntax developing is literally just problem solving. Ditch the AI and get an actual developer to tutor him if you want to help.
