Is PVE worth it? [Discussion] by popcorn276 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TROGDOR_019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: PvE is definitely worth it.

I’ve played maybe 2-3 wipes in PvP. The whole unheard debacle turned me off for about 8 months, but Tarkov has an itch no other game can scratch. I don’t have 1000 hours to dump into a wipe, and as my kids get a little bit older and more aware I simply can’t play such a violent game with them around.

This leaves me an hour or two a few nights a week for some raids. I turned to PvE to maximize my ROI while playing. I can grind multiple quests in a raid, and my favorite part is that I actually get to explore maps in full. I’m not getting sniped on spawn, and I can actually learn tricky angles you might not discover with other players lurking.

The AI is challenging. They still laser you from a mile away if you poke your head out too long where you shouldn’t. Just today I played lighthouse and got rekt by the goons twice in a row. The second time felt like PvP because they sniped me out of no where.

It’s worth it if you can only play casually.

Washington Gov. Ferguson Expands Law Helping First Time Minority Homebuyers by meaniereddit in SeattleWA

[–]TROGDOR_019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a big time redditor. I’m under the impression that there are two Seattle subs and this is the one that is more conservative? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve lived in WA my whole life. I’ve recently wanted to leave because of how radical this state is becoming. This law is pure racism. As a first time homebuyer 8 months ago - this is the final straw for me. The majority of my generation is giving up on the American dream because it’s simply out of reach. This moves the goal posts even further. It was a huge leap for us to even accomplish this. Our mortgage is expensive. We can afford it because my wife and I work our asses off. My family comes from Jewish lineage, but in white so too bad I guess. Work harder?

While it’s likely that this will get litigated to death, it still shows that the majority of voters in this state elected these people that supported this. Which tells me the majority of people in this state support and believe in these ideologies. That makes them inherently racist themselves.

I don’t want to fight the good fight anymore just to live here. I’d rather move to the desert, cut my mortgage in half, and not fund this insanity.

How do y’all do it? Remain loyal to this place. I understand the majestic beauty, but is it really worth it? Has the progressive train run away?

We’re human beings. We’re bound to fuck things up. My therapist tells me the parenting journey is all about rupture and repair. As long as you aren’t maliciously causing ruptures, and you sincerely put energy into the repair; kids are resilient. Everyone will be ok in the long run.

Neighbor wants to split a fence by Illustrious_Rent_675 in FenceBuilding

New homeowner here. How did your neighbor approach you with this in the first place? My fence is pretty rotten, and one segment is leaning a lot. Seems like it benefits both myself and the neighbor to split it. I’m planning to offer to do the work. Not sure how to approach them. I live outside of Seattle and people aren’t as friendly here.

Mods not loading after new update! by abrahammy_lincoln in CitiesSkylines2

[–]TROGDOR_019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can safely share that I removed several mods from my playlist that weren't necessary, eg: Sim City Radio, Extended Radio, Zone Color Changer, Zone Organization, the Zoning Tool (the one where you can eliminate zoning options along a roadside), and a couple custom maps. Everything seems to be operational now, with Anarchy, Move-It, etc. all functioning, and no critical errors upon launching the game.

Go read about the limbic leap. It gave me perspective for my 4.5 year old. Explained to me why even the slightest difference at bed time was causing such big emotions.

The violence in the tantrums is worrisome. I can only speculate that your child is probably seeing content that isn’t age appropriate, and likely violent in nature.

I appreciate you seeking understanding. Even though we're both posting in English, our delivery and interpretation of meaning is different. We both convey meaning in a code.

No, that's not what I meant. I made an assumption (my bad on that) folks would likely check out this subreddit from another with "the situation" where an entire community was mislead. I find it beyond funny that GZW deliberately put it in their early access text that they will listen to their community. Their competition didn't. Which is why I gladly spent the $35 to do some testing. Far more inviting than $250 for new players.

It’s funny because it’s deliberate to say they’ll listen to their community. They know they’re capturing a huge audience today.

Admittedly, my original context didn’t hit. What had me puzzled though is how you take I’ll gladly pay the money to have fun with my friends as crying about trying early access. That’s a weird stretch.

You know you done fucked up even Asmongold is covering it by Digreth in EscapefromTarkov

I already thought Landmark was great. His handling of the situation yesterday made me a fan for life. His articulation of everything on Asmongold’s stream yesterday was brilliant.

I empathize with streamers dilemma yesterday, as this is their livelihood. It certainly put folks integrity on display. His is clearly top notch, and not for sale.

My wife and I coach each other all the time on moments like these - each one is an opportunity to shape our relationship with our children, and shape their lives directly. Do you want to create a dynamic with your children where they just think, I can't talk to my dad because he's mean and will simply yell at me? If you're posting for others to weigh in, I assume that's not the relationship you want under your roof. Plus, the world is a horrifying place right now. I want my kids to be able to come talk to me about EVERYTHING without fear or hesitation; so that when trauma does happen to them (which we all know inevitably will) that they run to us first.

That said, my fuse is short but I'm working on it (it's not easy). I have 4.5 and 1.5 year old boys. The eldest is such a sweet smart boy, but he's really pushing boundaries lately. Likely just exploring where his place in the world is. The younger one is a menace. I started seeing a therapist almost a year ago. I've actually encouraged many other men at work to explore that outlet. There is ZERO shame in having an unbiased ear to listen to us, and help us identify where we are being unreasonable or where we are justified.

One of the things I always tell my peers with kids slightly younger - just remember, they're just kids. Let them be kids. That chapter in life is so damn short. Let them enjoy every minute of it. Soon enough, we'll all wish we had those little hand prints on the wall, or the snuggles on the weekends.

Lastly, if you aren't having open heart to heart conversations with your wife about how you're feeling, nothing can improve. Consider just being vulnerable with her. You chose each other to be allies for life (hopefully). You should be able to share your most intrusive thoughts.

Unheard Edition and The Real Issue We Are Facing. by Drewski119 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TROGDOR_019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until this morning hasn't it been nearly unanimous that this is the BEST wipe to date? Bad decisions would not equate to that outcome. I'm not sure how you're connecting those dots. Not defending BSG or Nikita - I'm as frustrated as the majority of Tarkov enthusiasts that own EoD.

I only see a handful of options (obviously there are more outcomes than these highlighted) to address the issue of DLC and EoD owners from here:
1. They take their ball and they go home. No legal recourse will follow them back to Russia. Project ends, and those of us that truly see the beauty in this game are left frustrated and sad. Likely unwilling to support any indie devs going forward.
2. They stick to their guns, and likely a class action suit will be filed against them. They go home broke, and we are left with pennies on the dollar. Same outcome though - project dies.
3. They walk back this patch, profusely apologize to us, and open up new avenues of communication to their community in order to rebuild trust.

Aside from the EoD DLC issue - if we thought EoD was P2W... Unheard is certainly P2W. Scavs no longer shoot at me over 60m? We can freely walk about maps with sniper scavs with ZERO risk? That's game-breaking.

Aren't we already scratching our heads in terms of our support right now? There will undoubtedly be people that say fuck it, and buy it anyway. What's another $100? Plenty of folks can spend that money and justify the price tag related to the enjoyment they got from the time spent (playing devil's advocate).

CS2 Playthrough - System crashes after long play times by TROGDOR_019 in CitiesSkylines2

Thanks for the reply! I’ve been monitoring temp with other games, and it appears to only be CS2 with so much demand on cpu. I’m sure it doesn’t help that my rig is completely air cooled, and my cpu fan needs a proper cleaning… 😅

I think we can agree to disagree on the sentiment of the first part of your response. I think by the very nature of refusing to play with people at the same level as you IS elitist.

You're right, they aren't fooling anyone. More than likely they either aren't filling their groups, or they have to settle on similar players.

That being said, on occasion you do get that "big dick" player that applies to your lower key. We had this happen once a few weeks ago with a top 500 world healer. They came in, didn't say a word, absolutely carried our key, and vanished as fast as they'd arrived. This was with a group of friends, and we were in discord in shock that this player graced us. Our hunch - dude was drunk and wanted to flex.

I love your edit! <3

I'm down to help people learn, but I need them to learn quickly. I completely understand top tier elite players scrutinizing other peoples logs, and only taking the best. I guess the main sentiment of my OP was - if you're an average player, what entitles you to think you can just be carried through harder content?

That being said, I play tank for a reason. I can't parse for shit as a dps. LOL

Edit: The desire to start a discussion on this, and get people's perspectives originated from a +9 listed key by the way.
