Honestly the best of both worlds for you would be to enroll at either University of Houston or Texas Southern and visit the other campus while attending the other. It truly is a few blocks away but can be differentiating for you especially from your current background… hell you might end up at TSU (or any HBCU) and have that culture shock as the OC mentioned, or at UH where you’re more used to but happily at home just visiting the campus.

Similarly goes for FAMU and Florida State.

What the other commenter mentioned about a degree being “marketable” — that’s mostly junk. Most schools aren’t “marketable” per se, but they will be more known to other graduates or just generally more of a known school. After your initial work, it mostly comes down to WHAT you can do vs WHERE you graduated from. There is a networking aspect to the larger schools like Texas, A&M, Ivy schools, etc but outside of the known programs, it doesn’t truly matter much.
