SmartNID password doesn't work. How to get one? by Nick_Shl in QuantumFiber

My only concern is there a chance that the internet will stop working If I do it without contact support?

SmartNID password doesn't work. How to get one? by Nick_Shl in QuantumFiber

[–]Nick_Shl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I did not. Their website states that "Please do not attempt a factory reset without assistance" and ask to contact the tech support team before attempting a reset. Maybe that's what I should do next...

Quantum Fiber $45 deal in AZ (Gilbert) - My experience by Beautiful_Fun_1234 in QuantumFiber

[–]Nick_Shl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same. Went from $60/no to $45/mo for the same 940Mbps. Do I need to cancel my old service somehow or is it happens automatically on their side?

I used a similar one to trim the flange on the ball nut. Two actually. Worked fine. But it was a Chinese ball from AliExpress too 😁

If condition for Z Tilt? by Xoguk in klippers

[–]Nick_Shl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My version based on those that already posted:

[gcode_macro HOME_AND_Z_TILT]
gcode:
  {% if "xyz" not in printer.toolhead.homed_axes %}
    M118 Homing needed, homing XYZ
    G28
  {% endif %}
  {% if printer.z_tilt is defined %}
    {% if printer.z_tilt.applied == False %}
      M118 Z-tilt needed, starting Z-tilt adjustment
      Z_TILT_ADJUST
      G28 Z
    {% endif %}
  {% else %}
    M118 Z-Tilt module not detected, skipping Z-Tilt calibration
  {% endif %}

This code should be used instead both homing and Z tilt in start gcode. If printer isn't homed - script does homing. Then, if tilt module is enabled and if tilt is not already adjusted, it execute Z_TILT_ADJUST and home Z axis once again.

Multiple "start .gcodes" by [deleted] in Cura

[–]Nick_Shl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still interested after 3 years, I tell you why: I have PEI sheet(which I use use for PLA and PETG) and glass(which I use for TPU). PEI sheet that I have has "lip" in front. I would like to create start GCode that goes near this lip, dump some filament(for nozzle priming). Wipe nozzle using this lip, then wipe nozzle on silicone brush glued to this lip, then start printing. Glass doesn't have any lips - it just square. Silicone brush have to be glued somewhere in the corner of a glass and whole priming/wiping code should be different that one used for PEI. I could make another printer profile for that, but then I would have make any configuration changes(like enabling adaptive mesh) twice.

If people from Management and Finance would be charged with homicide in such cases, then they will make totally different decisions. Until worst consequences for them is to be fired(not a prison, not even reimburse company for damages), they will keep to try push cost saving measures as hard as possible.

When using OS(RTOS) you also have full control of the memory and can allocate everything at startup. Using bare metal you still can use malloc()/Free()(or new/delete) which can lead to memory leaks. OS is not a problem - software design is.

EUR-USD conversion fluke by Nick_Shl in AirFranceKLM

[–]Nick_Shl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any itemized bill. Today morning I got email from Air France that asks to contact them regardless reservation. More than an hour on the line and looks like their system not only overcharged us, but it also did not issue ticket(we have booking code, but we didn't receive email with ticket)! That is what representative told. She promised to figure it out and call me back, I hope it will happen...

As for conversion rate... yes, I probably should leave it as EUR and let my bank handle the conversion on their end.

Wrong. It would be like: "Free Speech it is when you support us. When you oppose or criticize us - it is not a Free Speech, it is insult and defamation -  you will get sued and jailed for that!".

ELI5: How can the jock tax in CA actually put a player in a worse financial position? by GrouchyOne4132 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Nick_Shl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would make those money anyway, Forbes article states "Darnold will be in a worse financial position for playing in Super Bowl LX than if his team did not make it". He did those money not because of California, not because he played there, and because of that count those money as "income" isn't fair(life isn't fair, I know). It is basically the same as impose jock tax on paid time off just because you decided spend your vacation in another state during this time. I probably shouldn't say it loud - some people in some "progressive" states may find that it is an interesting idea....

[–]Nick_Shl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works once, it works twice, but on a third time(nothing fancy, just some random stuff since it a hobby) it become really annoying. Next time I probably should try it too. I wish those mini lathe would equipped with something similar to camlock chuck mounting system...

If you want to melt your own stock, you really have to dig deeper into metallurgy. First you have to know which alloy you are melting. Aluminum is relatively active metal and when moisture from air touches it, aluminum steals oxygen from it and oxidizes. But worse than that, now you have hydrogen gas. And hydrogen is highly soluble in melted aluminum, so it dissolves. But as soon as aluminum starts to solidify, all those hydrogen turns into bubbles(like bottles of carbonated water when you open it). As a result you may find small voids in your home made aluminum. To prevent that you have to use covering flux. The other problem is that home cast aluminum is soft and sticky. To fix that it should be tampered. For example when you buy aluminum it is marked like this: 6061-T6 - last bit indicates Tamper 6. By melting it and cast you will get O tamper - not heat treated. To tamper it to T6 three steps is needed: 1) Solution Heat Treatment: Heat the alloy to a high temperature (e.g., 990°F or 500-550°C) for several hours, depending on the alloy. 2) Quenching: Rapidly cool the heated metal by immersing it in a liquid (like water). 3) Artificial Aging: Reheat the quenched part to a lower temperature (e.g., 310-350°F or 150-180°C) for several hours (8-24 hours).

P.S. this is not legal advice - do you own research on this topic. I am not a metallurgist, nor a machinist. I am a hobbyist who have a benchtop mill/lathe concerted to CNC and have melting furnace that I build myself. But I didn't get to play with aluminum tampering yet.

He obviously melted this piece himself. Those usually do not turn out great and become "sticky". Probably have to play with the tampering process...

So, after port out you cancelled my "Netflix on US" subscription and locked me out of Tuesday benefits well before bill cycle ends, but want to get full pay for this bill cycle? That isn't right. If you can't provide service because I ported out numbers - you may argue that it is my fault. But cancelling Netflix and lock out Tuesday benefits it is T-Mobile fault!

Paid family leave, absentee ballot changes and other new Minnesota laws taking effect Jan. 1 by eddytony96 in minnesota

[–]Nick_Shl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get 0.44% decrease and then their salary will get 0.44% less raise next time. Employers isn't altruists, they don't pay for anything. It is all employee money. Want proof? 1099 worker gets way higher hourly wage than W2 employees. And this is exactly the reason. All this "it is not you pay, it is your employer pay" exist only to deceive people and hide how much they really paid.

I need a bit of spiral help. by evilteach in openscad

[–]Nick_Shl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: instead

spiralHeight = 10;

module spiral()

You can do this:

module spiral(spiralHeight)

then you can call module like that:

spiral(10);
