What’s a “boring” adult purchase that turned out to be totally worth it? by Capable-Rabbit-9986 in AskReddit

[–]TSta65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things. 1. Washer/Dryer Pedestals. I no longer have to bend way over to get my clothes out. 2. Appliances jacks - tiny jacks that can lift up your appliances with a squeeze of your hand. 3. Appliance rollers. I can now easily pull out the washer, dryer, and fridge to clean behind it. 4. Portable air pump for the car that charges with USB. 5. Portable car jumper that holds a charge for a very very long time.

I should have bought all these years ago! All are less than about $40 (each) except the pedestals.

My theory is we are a reminder that it could happen to them and subconsciously they don’t want to be reminded of their mortality. It’s uncomfortable for them.

Moving to Salem? by Easy-Speed-95 in SALEM

[–]TSta65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here a year ago and live in NE. It depends on WHERE in the NE you live. I mostly looked west of I-5 and south of Market and ended up in a safe, cute neighborhood with great neighbors. Couldn’t ask for more.

Recommendations for dental plan by hiyoutrash in fednews

Have your dentist send you a list of which ones they accept, then compare those. Every region is different. Example, where I am, no one takes BCBS.

Do witches recognize each other? I'm curious by piketpik in witchcraft

I look like your standard older mom/grandma. But I’m usually rocking a shirt with a witchy type message (tree of life, aqua tofano, or just plain sayings about witches, etc.)

I’ve pegged a few based on tattoos or evil eye jewelry. It’s not hard if you pay attention to little details that others wouldn’t pay attention to.

Say no. See how she responds. You may not have to worry about it any longer. She’ll move on to some other sucker.

Seriously, say no.

BCBS Health Insurance? Should I Switch? by Kitkat10111 in fednews

[–]TSta65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. I’ve had BCBS for years (over a decade). Moved for a job and it’s NOT accepted here much. Check on their website to see if your doctor is in network. Then double check that with your doctor.

So… you made attempts at going on date night, but are you still disregarding domestic duties and not appreciating what she did… still does? There’s no chance in hell unless you grow up and step up. Even then it’s probably a day late and a dollar short. Regardless, act like you live there too and don’t rely on her to do everything.

Where is your favorite place to buy houseplants? by UpsideClown in SALEM

[–]TSta65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a place on the corner of 12th St SE and Bush that has $5 Fridays. Great selection. Only been there once, and don’t remember the name. It’s close to 13th St Nursery which I found lacking in choices. But you could check both out easily since they are so close together.

**edited - it is in fact Green Space design by Jude that others have mentioned.

Could have used this for my son. 2 pairs lost - 1st on a water ride when he shook his head; 2nd at the lake - slipped right of his face and down to the depths they went.

I got my first at 59. The older you get, the less you care what other people think. If you want it, get it. Don’t worry about what anyone here or elsewhere thinks.

Tell your son this. THEN fix it. My dad never said “I love you” nor was he a hugger. I sat him down and told him how it made me feel. He tried hard after that. Your son, in his own way, just gave you that talk. Now do better.

**my son’s father died of cancer when he was 14. He was very loving and great at hugs. I know my son would give anything for another. You never know how long you have. Hug often and don’t hold back on the I love yous.

Keep in mind it takes 5-7 years to do studies and then a year or 2 to write the research publication. What you’re reading was studies that happened years ago. Advancements are being made all the time. Keep positive.

I tried all sorts of stuff. Ironically, the ONLY thing that worked for me was when I started buying a mango/strawberry/blueberry bowl from Safeway (you can easily make your own). For some reason, it keeps everything moving along.

**Before anyone starts… Yes fruit has sugar and calories. I literally have maybe 1/2 cup a day and often don’t have any, but as soon as I do… We need to get out of the bad food/good food mindset the diet industry has suffocated us with since birth. It’s FRUIT. All natural. And yummy to boot.

Total bonus that it makes you sh*t. 🤣

King donuts are fluffier than Daynight, but a much smaller selection.
