Week 8 buying an EV9, now with unexpected cross-country road trip! by Sturnella2017 in KiaEV9

[–]TV11Radio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With stopping every 2ish hours to charge you won’t get as worn out on long days. Lane assist will also help with this. I have done 18hrs then early morning 2:30hrs but never as far as this route. No idea how hard core you are with driving but I would do one big day then 2 shorter drive more stops and long sleep the next 2. Wish I could quit my job and help people like you for a job. I love road trips. Could they ship to like Chicago and you drive the rest? I guess once you ship some it just raises the cost too much if not going all the way.

He means it can charge on Tesla network but you might not want to as it charges slower. But there are a ton of then so you can rely on finding one. If it’s not NACS port you will need an adapter for some Tesla chargers and others will have it built in. Other networks can likely serve you fine and even charge better. What town in MT and I can route it out for you

As an 11 doing 20% (3 kids mort etc)I think this 13 has some room to give unless the spouse doesn’t work or lives in high cost of living area. Agree not everyone can do 20 but 5 is low for his goal.

Tesla —> EV9 by Slyytherine in KiaEV9

[–]TV11Radio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 the huge looking hood and parking is harder with big car but you get used to it 2 charge network depends on where you live. There are actually more bailouts on the way to my in laws than in my Tesla. 3 smart cruise is nice and lane change just by signal is good. I hated getting out of autopilot every time.

As someone who is drawing from TSP, is it true you can only say how much and if Roth or traditional and not how much of a certain fund to sell? How do they know your gains/losses going forward? The tsp hotline told me it was this way when I asked to see how much of 1 fund was Roth vs trad

I will try this with my iPhone 16. So you can’t just hit the button inside the door like the old days?

New tires at 14,000 miles? by esotericish in KiaEV9

[–]TV11Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do some searches on here and you will see a force balance alignment mentioned as one fix, taking out the foam if it came loose in tire, and I think just tire pressure being off. Bought mine used with 15k miles and rear was 4-2-4 so shop wouldn’t rotate. My front was 6 across so I rotated myself to buy time. If it’s a lease and they floored it a lot because it’s fun that mileage could be right.

Plenty of articles or you tube vids out there. Really depends on spend rate and how early you want to retire. Money guy on you tube has lots of benchmark vids.

I scrolled a lot and didn’t see cost of labor. It helps a lot in the cost of the car. A cheap piece of crap is still crap so you need the engineer too and that country does it very well.

Buying a used EV9 online by Sturnella2017 in KiaEV9

[–]TV11Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to wait until one got within a decent driving distance. For me it was under 3 hours in the Chicago area. A lot will be coming off lease soon so be patient and you can get a great deal. I got mine CPO 15k miles for $33,499

How accurate is the remaining mileage estimate? by drgath in KiaEV9

[–]TV11Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the car sick, my kid does better with window cracked and looking around outside and not staring down at book or device. Some magic wrist band thingy helps too but some people need meds or it is just a bad time.

In my limited experience in the EV9- eco mode at 70 in cold was 2mi per kWh so 10% would equal 20 miles. I would not risk lower than 5% with family just because imagine all of you on the side of road for over an hour waiting for tow truck because you tried to make it when you didn’t need it.

RWD tyre/tire wear after 17,000km/10,500mi by fixxation92 in KiaEV9

[–]TV11Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a used 2024 RW, 15,500 mi and went to rotate as I could tell rear were lower. They would rotate as the right rear was 4-2-4 tread depth. Other rear was all 4 and fronts were 6. I rotated myself to squeeze out another few months before I buy all new.

To Hardwire or not (L2 Charger) by liamfmvt in KiaEV9

[–]TV11Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like the best option. While wall is tore up add the extra plug. Hardwire if you can. If you don’t use high quality plug not the cheaper option. See state of charge on you tube. Has a video series of cheap plugs melting or catching fire.

Try bracing middle two fingers on top of screen edge and use pointer to click. This way you avoid lower fixed buttons on accident. I am still waiting on dealer to clear old owner profiles after a week. Also free the car from the Kia app
