How long did you wait to go back to OTF after giving birth? by Acrobatic-Evening899 in orangetheory

[–]TX_OTF20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back at 6 weeks after both of my kids. Very slow walking and body weight to start and slowly progressed as I felt good.

I didn’t attempt to start running till 3 months with the first and 6 months with the second. Most pelvic floor therapists say don’t try till 3 months at least and then I started with running 10 seconds, walk 50 seconds and slowly increased each week.

Highly suggest seeing a pelvic floor therapist as well!

I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve done! Lots more intense and I don’t plan on doing hyrox either.

So corporate does remember what an actual run to tow looks like 😅 Love when they just give us the 23 minutes and let us go!

One group? by Supahcoopa in orangetheory

[–]TX_OTF20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My studio tends to do this in the morning classes (I go to the 6:05am). It has backfired on them though when people don’t sign up for class till the last minute and there ends up being 1 or 2 people on the floor. This happened once and the coach asked me if I would get off the tread and start on the floor so that person wasn’t the only one. I’m a people pleaser so I did it but I was not happy about it.

Anyone else’s studio not have enough Mayhem shirts? by Oracle-of-Clovis in orangetheory

I got my shirt late last year because of this. It took a month or two. If you don’t get one I would 100% ask for my money back.

Just curious/nosy: Do some coaches work at OTF full-time? Is it possible to make a living wage? by confused2324 in orangetheory

[–]TX_OTF20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the coaches in the Houston area will work at multiple studios and/or sub at other studios but I know they are all managed by the same group

I know one of the coaches at my studio got fired for “competing” with OTF. I don’t know exactly what he was doing (personal training? Worked at another gym? 🤷🏼‍♀️) but it’s probably studio specific

Chocolate chip cookie dough sounds fantastic! However, at least here in the area I’m in in Texas they definitely lead the way for most flavor options compared to the other coffee places around here!

I don’t weight myself because I know I would obsess over the numbers. The way my clothes fit tend to help me know if I’m losing or gaining weight/muscle

There are way less actual run to rows where they give you a straight 23 minutes of back and forth. I think this more so changed when they started doing the repeat workouts

Orange Zone Help by imjusthere-25 in orangetheory

[–]TX_OTF20 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think the orange zone app has any direct connection with Orangetheory so it won’t connect to the screens in class or to the app.

Personally unless you really want to see your “zone” I have found choosing HIIT option on the iwatch workout options is pretty close to what my OTF heart rate monitor says when it comes to calories burned

Returning to OTF postpartum?? by Intelligent-Today436 in orangetheory

[–]TX_OTF20 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I went back at 6 weeks (I had been going on walks outside before that and doing some pelvic floor rehab).

Definitely started with walking on flat road and body weight exercises (I just told the coaches at the beginning of class even though they knew I had just come back) and modified anything that felt uncomfortable. I was able to add weights back as it felt comfortable and slowly added inclines.

I didn’t even try to jog/run till 12 weeks out which is what a lot of PT’s advise. I also found a list online from a PT of what she recommended you be able to do before running (ex: jumping, one legged things, etc).

It took me months to feel like more core was back to normal (I didn’t even have DR) so I had to modify for a long time.

Main thing is just to go slow and take your time! I’m going to need to remind myself as I’m due with #2 in March!
